The Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) reviews and upgrades its Preparatory Year

A constant quest for excellence

As of September 2012, the brand new Preparatory Year will provide students with an even deeper immersion in all hospitality related activities, setting a new and improved standard in the acquisition of professional competencies.

Two enrollments, with strengthened learning and on-the-field experiences

The curriculum will offer two enrollment dates; September 2012 and February 2013.

Every academic year will be split into two parts :

  • 5 intensive learning months on campus, with teaching hours increased from 600 to 1'000 hours,
  • An industry internship increased from 4 to 6 months (starting in February and July 2013), which will better meet companies' expectations whilst strengthening the students on-field experience.

A global vision, a new hands-on minds-on learning philosophy

Immersion in the full range of hospitality related activities is increased as classes are now given in academic units offering real-life production experience in all the hospitality sectors at the School: kitchen, restaurant, bars, stewarding, reception, housekeeping and laundry.

Once a strong practical know-how has been acquired, students then compliment their experience through theoretical classes focusing on 5 centers of excellence from Arts to Science (arts, sciences and techniques; hospitality humanities; economy and markets; politics and people; trends and innovations), all of which encourage them to develop a comprehensive and dynamic understanding of the hospitality business at a management-level.
