The leaders of four hospitality related firms will keynote the Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), set for October 8-9, 2012, at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Chaired by Michael Johnson, dean of the School of Hotel Administration, the panel will analyze the hotel industry's strategy for moving forward, as part of the CHRS's overall theme: "Service Excellence and Performance Growth in the Global Hospitality Industry: Strategies and Approaches for Navigating Forward."
"This is our second CHRS conference, and it has an extremely strong lineup," said Professor Rohit Verma, CHRS chair. "This keynote panel is a highlight of some 80 presentations by industry leaders and academic researchers scheduled for the CHRS. I greatly appreciate the participation of these top industry leaders." Verma added that early registration for CHRS at reduced cost is now open. The full list of industry speakers is available on the CHR website, along with a listing of all the sessions at a glance.
The industry panel members are:
- Arthur Adler, managing director and CEO, Americas, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels;
- David Peckinpaugh, president, Maritz Travel Company;
- Ted Teng, CEO, the Leading Hotels of the World; and
- Adam Weissenberg, vice chairman, global and U.S. travel, hospitality and leisure leader, Deloitte & Touche USA.
Ted Teng, who spoke at the first CHRS, said: "This is the most thought provoking hospitality conference I have ever attended. The collaboration between industry and the academy produced rich content and thought leadership on many current topics facing the practitioners of the industry."
The CHRS also will present the Hospitality Research and Analytics Award to honor the industry's best research ideas that have been put into practice. The nomination and submission deadline for this top-level award is July 20. The Hospitality Research and Analytics Award features the practical application of research and analysis to advance the hospitality industry. Award winners will be recognized during the CHRS's awards dinner ceremony on October 9, 2012. Award winners will be acknowledged in conference press releases from the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (CHR). The Hospitality Research and Analytics award is presented by CHR and supported by IDeaS, a SAS company, and a partner of the CHR.
