Canada Results For Week Ending 20 April

The Canadian hotel industry experienced mixed results in the three key performance metrics during the week of 14-20 April 2013, according to data from STR. In year-over-year comparisons, occupancy fell 2.0 percent to 62.3 percent, average daily rate was up 1.5 percent to CAD$128.06 and revenue per available room decreased 0.6 percent to CAD$79.75.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee -- The Canadian hotel industry experienced mixed results in the three key performance metrics during the week of 14-20 April 2013, according to data from STR.

In year-over-year comparisons, occupancy fell 2.0 percent to 62.3 percent, average daily rate was up 1.5 percent to CAD$128.06 and revenue per available room decreased 0.6 percent to CAD$79.75.

Among the provinces, New Brunswick reported the only double-digit occupancy increase, rising 11.2 percent to 61.2 percent. Prince Edward Island fell 34.1 percent in occupancy to 33.0 percent, posting the largest decrease in that metric.

Saskatchewan increased 8.8 percent in ADR to CAD$139.03, reporting the largest increase in that metric. Alberta followed with a 3.6-percent ADR increase to CAD$141.36. British Columbia reported the largest ADR decrease, falling 6.1 percent to CAD$124.72.

Two provinces achieved double-digit RevPAR increases: Newfoundland (+13.7 percent to CAD$100.67) and New Brunswick (+13.0 percent to CAD$67.67). Prince Edward Island decreased 33.9 percent in RevPAR to CAD$28.69, posting the largest decrease in that metric.
