Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced it has hit the 50 percent completion mark

on construction of its soon-to-open hotel, The Brice, located in the historic city of Savannah, Georgia. Originally constructed in 1860, The Brice is scheduled to open in May 2014 and will pay homage to the building's rich history while keeping Kimpton's distinctly relaxed, yet sophisticated twist, on the modern contemporary hotel. .

As the site of the first Coca-Cola bottling plant in Savannah, The Brice aims to celebrate

the building's storied past with features that fold in its history. Guests will find a giant factory window above the entrance and a concierge desk constructed from an old Coca- Cola sign – both nods to a bygone era.

"Savannah is a playful and charming

city that aligns perfectly with the warm hearted and somewhat irreverent Kimpton brand," said Mitch Linder, general manager of The Brice. "As Kimpton's first hotel in the Hostess City of the South, The Brice will offer guests the perfect retreat away from the city, but with a gateway to the rich history, art, music, dining, shopping, and entertainment options that make Savannah the true southern gem it is."

The 145-room hotel will include 5,700 square feet of indoor meeting and event

space, as well as 2,300 square feet of outdoor space, perfect for weddings, corporate meetings and social events and celebrations. A Secret Garden will provide a lush, private, open-air sanctuary for guests to enjoy food and drinks from Kimpton's adjacent restaurant, music, culture, and community. A chef-driven Kimpton restaurant and craft cocktail bar will be located on the main floor.
