1. Top Ten Ski Resorts Ranked by Popularity
France is by far the most popular country this ski season, with six of the top ten destinations located in the Rhône-Alpes region. It is encouraging, however, to see British travellers beginning to try new ski destinations, with resorts in Bulgaria and Andorra also in the top ten.
2. Top Ten Ski Resorts Ranked by Price
Val d'Isère, Méribel and St. Anton are by far the most expensive ski resorts this season, at an average of £288, £278 and £260 per night respectively for a standard double room. It is easy to see why Brits are heading to Andorra and Bulgaria instead, with prices at £47 (Bansko), £55 (Borovets) and £103 (Arinsal). One night in Val d'Isère is on average six times more expensive than one night in Bansko.
3. Top Ten Ski Resorts Ranked by Hotel Reputation
St. Anton has the best rated hotels out of the top ten ski resorts this season, based on over 140 million aggregated hotel ratings. Bansko is undoubtedly the best value destination, with both the cheapest and the second best rated hotels. Méribel, in comparison, offers the worst value for money – the hotels are the second most expensive and the least favourably rated.
Popularity is based on searches made by UK users during November for a hotel stay between 1st December 2014 and 31st January 2015. The average price is the price per night for a standard double room during the same period. The hotel reputation is an index based on over 140 million hotel ratings from over 175 booking sites worldwide.
