Although ITB and IHIF Berlin have been cancelled at short notice, Kempinski Hotels is holding its planned events and meetings in Berlin through the entire week. Martin R. Smura, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Kempinski Hotels as well as all members of the Management Board are present in Berlin despite the cancellations due to the corona virus, thus expressing the importance and appreciation of customers and partners.

"We are one of the few companies that are committed to meeting our customers and media friends as originally planned through the "ITB programme" explains Martin R. Smura. "We did not hesitate at all to move all of our meetings and events to the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin. Even though there were expected individual cancellations, we still meet with investors for intensive meetings, invited partners as a thank-you for their many years of close collaboration and we informed journalists at the media breakfast about the latest projects and developments."

And Smura continues: "The tourism and hotel industry is going through difficult times and of course as an international hotel company we are affected. In particular our hotels in China are suffering from the current situation and we hope that there will soon be more positive news in this regard. However, this does not prevent us from maintaining close and personal contact with our most important customers."

Kempinski Hotels is using the days in Berlin to talk about portfolio expansion and exciting new openings. In the next 18 months alone, 15 new luxury hotels with 3,888 rooms will welcome guests from all over the world for the first time.
