London – Today, Hilton is celebrating hotels reopening across England and welcoming back leisure guests for the first time in months, marking a significant milestone in the hospitality industry’s recovery from the pandemic.

Team Members have been busy preparing to welcome back thousands of holidaymakers to its hotels as the business embraces pent-up demand for travel. Teams across the hospitality brands’ 150-strong portfolio of UK hotels are gearing up to launder 900,000 towels, change 400,000 duvet covers, make 600,000 key cards and pop 3,000 Champagne corks over the coming weeks as guests spend time with friends and family indoors again.

Up and down the country, Hilton has seen leisure stay searches rise with popular destinations for summer including Hilton Brighton Metropole, Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, Hilton Bournemouth and DoubleTree by Hilton Bath. With over 14,000 rooms in London alone, the hotel group has seen searches for London staycations increase by 20 per cent week-on-week, as travellers look to book weekends away in the capital again.

Stephen Cassidy, Managing Director, Hilton UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming back leisure guests to our properties in England, after what has been the toughest year in the hospitality industry’s history. This is a crucial step to kickstarting tourism activities in the UK, as well as a meaningful recovery for the sector. With pent-up demand for a safe summer of travel, we are excited to be able to welcome British holidaymakers back to Hilton hotels once again, offering best-in-class hospitality, cleanliness and booking flexibility.”

This week, Hilton is also celebrating the launch of two properties in Wales and London. Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia, the first internationally branded hotel in North Wales, is situated on an all-action site home to the world’s first inland surf lagoon and will open its doors on May 18. The Westminster London, Curio Collection by Hilton, located in one of the city’s most sought-after districts, will open on May 17.

Guests can travel with peace of mind from check-in to check-out with Hilton’s CleanStay programme. New standards include a Hilton CleanStay Room Seal to indicate that a room has not been accessed since being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, increased frequency of cleaning of all public areas, and flexible housekeeping options.
