Montreux International School (MIS) and Hotel Institute Montreux have announced a unique partnership to deliver an International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) in business and hospitality, as an accelerated pathway into Hotel Institute Montreux’s bachelor’s programme. The partnership is the first to be announced for MIS, with more in the pipeline with the Swiss Education Group of schools over the coming months.

The partners have co-developed the business and hospitality curriculum that will be offered at MIS, opening in September 2021, for students aged 16-19. The IBCP is formed of three parts: courses from the IB’s Diploma Programme; the CP core; and the hands-on career-related study, which will be delivered in partnership with Hotel Institute Montreux, part of the world-class Swiss Education Group. The career-related study exposes students to authentic real-world learning situations in conjunction with external industry partners.

On successful completion of the IBCP in business and hospitality, MIS students will be awarded a Certificate in Business and Hospitality studies by Hotel Institute Montreux and will receive “advanced standing” of two terms on Hotel Institute Montreux’s bachelor's degree.

Peter Slade, Head of School at MIS, said: “It brings me great pleasure to be giving our students at MIS the opportunity to access the Hotel Institute Montreux community, faculty and facilities through this exciting course. The possibility for our students to have an accelerated and securely mapped progression onto Hotel Institute Montreux’s world-renowned bachelor’s programme and subsequently into their careers is truly unique in my experience.”

Hotel Institute Montreux was ranked in the top 25 institutions worldwide for Hospitality and Leisure Management courses in 2020 by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Rankings.

Ms Ulrika Bjorklund, Dean, Hotel Institute Montreux, commented: “We are excited to have collaborated on both the development of the Certificate in Business and Hospitality Management and on providing MIS students with a clearly articulated accelerated pathway into our bachelor’s programme.”

MIS will share facilities with its prestigious partner school Institut Monte Rosa, housed in the Château d’Arvel, a modernised 19th century mansion in Territet.
