The brand is continuing to break new ground in its ambitious development and modernization strategy with this new model, which it describes as more than a new form of accommodation but rather as an attitude.

At a time when the traditional hotel industry is still suffering as a result of the pandemic, Adagio is creating a new and innovative offering for its guests with the launch of Coliving. With four to six rooms, a Coliving apartment can accommodate up to twelve people and is aimed at both corporate and leisure travelers.

Whether being used privately or on business, the apartments turnkey room layout provides a separate area within the flat that can be used as a shared multifunctional space. The fully equipped Coliving apartments are perfect for longer stays – providing all the facilities guests need to comfortably live, work and sleep. Guests can enjoy all the freedoms and flexibilities that the apartment provides coupled with the benefits of the hotel services that Adagio offers its guests as a matter of principle.

The first Coliving flat is currently being built in the Aparthotel Adagio Paris Bercy and will open to visitors in autumn 2021, with the brand hoping to rollout the concept across its international portfolio soon after.

Coliving was developed by the innovative Adagio design team in collaboration with the design studio Numéro 111, known for its inspiring concepts for private home ownership, rental flats as well as for the hotel industry. The Coliving concept adapts to guests needs and architecturally combines community and privacy. There are flexible communal areas for meeting and working and private rooms where residents can retreat in peace. Coliving is thus based on the four pillars: Flexibility - Flowing Transitions - Community - Service.

The energy of the community!

The communal areas of a Coliving flat are designed to be hybrid and not limited to a specific function. The area is openly designed so that different aspects of daily life can coexist harmoniously without interference. The model for this is "The Circle", the changeable communal area in the Aparthotels Adagio with a large table and the "Library of Things". The communal area forms the centre of the Coliving Apartment, from which the private spaces branch off in a star shape.

The communal area for each apartment is prepared depending on the target group. For leisure guests there is a large warm kitchen and the cosy living room, equipped with a TV, game console, Bluetooth speaker, books and board games. In the "business configuration", the large bar table in the kitchen transforms into a collective work area with sockets for computers, while the living room is used for presentations on the large monitor. A large open bookcase serves as a screen giving the area structure. This creates freedom of movement and exchange without any feeling of confinement.

The lounge area is a cosy meeting place, furnished with selected furniture and decorative elements. The centerpiece is the iconic Togo sofa by Ligne Roset, with its ergonomic shape, ideal for relaxing. This is flanked by armchairs and footrests. This timeless sofa, upholstered in cognac-coloured leather reinforces the feeling of being "at home".

Privacy is guaranteed

Special attention was paid to privacy in the design of the Coliving apartments. Each resident has their bedroom to retreat in, office corner, sufficient storage space and their own bathroom. Materials and colours were carefully selected by Numéro 111 and give the cosy feeling of a home of one's own. Wooden furniture, curtains and pillows in merbau tones give the bedroom a warm touch, while the colours grey-green and terracotta dominate in the bathroom.
