Rugby World Cup France 2023 Organising Committee chooses ResaEvents as Official Accommodation Bank
At the “Destination France Summit”, hosted in Paris in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron, the Organising Committee of Rugby World Cup 2023, which will take place in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023, has announced the deployment of its official hotel reservation platform for the event. ResaEvents, a subsidiary of Accor Group, world leader in hospitality, will bring together nearly 700 independent and chain hotels from across France, which will be made available through an innovative technology platform.
Claude ATCHER (France 2023 CEO) said: “Our commitment to make Rugby World Cup France 2023 a successful event in all the French regions requires that we work with the right partners and employ the best solutions available to us. Through our collaboration with Accor, a global leader in hospitality, we will implement a unique tool for the French tourism ecosystem. Innovative and efficient – ResaEvents will guarantee the event’s economic impact is maximised for all involved.”
Sébastien BAZIN, (President and CEO of Accor) added: “We are proud to have been selected by the France 2023 Organising Committee and share with them the desire to make this major sporting event a highlight for sport and for France. ResaEvents has been designed to support all hoteliers in France and offer Rugby World Cup visitors accessible and numerous accommodation solutions. Thanks to this tool and our collaboration with the organisers of Rugby World Cup 2023, we are putting our hotel and technological know-how at the service of destination France.”
ResaEvents, a subsidiary of the Accor Group, is a major player in the outsourced management of reservation platforms, combining hotel and technological know-how. Developed for Rugby World Cup 2023, the company relies on operational teams from the hotel world and uses an innovative booking platform to market this major sporting event. Under the guidance of the organising committee, ResaEvents will operate the official hotel booking platform for the entire event, building on a new platform developed in collaboration with Gekko, subsidiary of Accor, a B2B specialist in hotel distribution and loyalty platforms.
More than 700 independent and chain hotels are already listed on the platform.
For the France 2023 Organising Committee, ResaEvents thus allows the complete hosting management of participating teams, officials, staff as well as the marketing of the aforementioned hotels to other visitors participating in the event (sponsors, media, tour operators, hospitality clients). Thanks to its thorough operational and financial monitoring ability, hoteliers marketed on the platform can maximise their revenue and occupancy rates during the tournament.
The technology developed by ResaEvents for Rugby World Cup 2023 will in the future benefit other major event organisers, notably due to its fast interface with existing IT environments and its ability to enhance customer-hotel relationships.

ABOUT RUGBY WORLD CUP FRANCE 2023
Rugby World Cup 2023 will take place in France from 8 September-28 October with matches played in nine venues across 10 host cities. The tournament will be the 10th men’s Rugby World Cup and the second to be hosted by France after a memorable event in 2007.
RWC 2023 will take place in a year when the sport celebrates 200 years since Rugby School pupil William Webb Ellis was credited with inventing the game of rugby football by showing “a fine disregard for the rules” in catching the ball and running with it in 1823.
RWC 2023 will set new standards in social responsibility, inclusion and sustainability for a major rugby event, targeting four key pillars for the tournament’s legacy: acting for sustainability and circular economy, supporting education, training and employment, respecting and protecting the environment and promoting inclusivity by being a champion for gender equality.
The showpiece event in men’s 15s, Rugby World Cup 2023 will feature 20 teams – 12 of whom qualified directly by finishing in the top three in their pool at Japan 2019 and eight from a global qualification process – with 48 matches played across 51 days.
