Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi has announced the opening of a new culinary experience, Talea, by acclaimed two-Michelin-starred chef Antonio Guida. It is Guida’s first restaurant outside of Italy.
Talea at Emirates Palace offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a curated selection of seasonal and authentic Italian menus in a lively setting with an open show kitchen.
With deep roots in southern Italy’s Puglia region, Guida spent years honing his talents in celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants and in 2015, led Seta at Mandarin Oriental, Milan to its first Michelin star four months after opening, with a second Michelin star shortly thereafter.
Guida commented: “With our concept of ‘Italy meets Abu Dhabi’, I am delighted to offer Talea’s patrons a new culinary experience that presents a new interpretation of Italian favourites, along with some rare and unusual combinations.”
Talea’s menu draws on Guida’s culinary style to create a “Cucina di Famiglia” – family-style cooking. From handmade ravioli, and spaghetti alla carbonara to artisanal pizza, osso buco and Vitello tomato, Talea fuses traditional techniques with an edge.
The restaurant’s interiors feature two-toned columns and walls layered with art inspired by the landscapes of Italy. An outdoor terrace is also available for an alfresco dining experience.
Michael Koth, general manager of Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi and area vice president, operations for the Middle East said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Chef Antonio Guida at Talea, further enhancing our culinary offerings at Emirates Palace. Talea combines the flavours of Italy with the scents of Arabia, setting a new benchmark for Italian cuisine in Abu Dhabi.”
