Avani Hotels & Resorts Launches Avani Book Club, A New Chapter in Destination Discovery
A global reading initiative bringing together #BookTok-era discovery, local voices and destination-led experiences across the Avani portfolio
Avani Hotels & Resorts launches a global reading programme across 15 properties, featuring curated book lists, in-hotel book corners, author events, and destination-themed activations.

Avani Hotels & Resorts has launched Avani Book Club, a new global initiative that helps guests connect with each destination through books, local stories and shared reading experiences. Designed for travellers looking for slower, more meaningful ways to spend their time away, the programme brings together curated reading lists, in-hotel book corners, book swaps, author-led events and relaxed reading moments across selected Avani hotels and resorts worldwide. The launch responds to the rise of online reading communities, from BookTok to Bookstagram, as books become part of how people plan, share and remember travel.
At the heart of the programme is a curated global reading list of 30 titles across 15 Avani properties in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Ocean. Each book has been selected to reflect the culture, character or mood of its destination, balancing literary credibility with guest appeal. The list spans contemporary fiction, classic novels, page-turners and reflective wellness reads, giving guests an easy way to find a story that matches their trip.
Highlights include Bangkok Wakes to Rain by Pitchaya Sudbanthad at Avani+ Riverside Bangkok, a multi-layered portrait of the Thai capital, and The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton at Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam, which captures the intrigue and artistry of 17th-century Amsterdam. In Italy, Avani Rio Novo Venice features Kacie Rose’s New York Times bestseller, You Deserve Good Gelato, a joyful celebration of food, travel and reinvention with the author and influencer set to bring the programme to life through an Avani Book Club event and book signing this summer.
The reading list also reflects Avani’s resort destinations, from Folk Tales of the Maldives at Avani+ Fares Maldives, where a roving book buggy brings poolside reads to guests and wellness titles await in the spa, to Katherine May’s restorative Wintering at Avani+ Barbarons Seychelles. At Avani Victoria Falls, Namwali Serpell’s The Old Drift traces Zambia’s story across generations, while Australian favourites The Rosie Project and Big Little Lies bring light holiday reading to the collection.
Beyond the global reading list, participating hotels will bring Avani Book Club to life through local partnerships, destination-led menus, book swaps, children’s storytelling and community events. In Madrid, Avani Alonso Martínez Hotel regularly hosts local book clubs, bringing readers together for literary conversations in the Spanish capital. At Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam, Avani Book Club will mark WorldPride with a Book Swap & Reading Night in partnership with The Swap Club, gathering guests and locals for an evening of LGBTQ+ stories, poetry and shared conversation.
In Thailand, Avani Ratchada Bangkok will launch Sip the Story, pairing books on Thailand with themed coffees, matchas and cocktails for guests to enjoy while they read. At Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort, guests can settle in for a story-inspired afternoon tea by the pool, with menus designed around selected reads and served with views of the limestone cliffs. For younger travellers, Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort brings local wildlife into the story. Children can follow Gok and Gek, the resort’s resident hornbill couple, through the Hornbill Heroes adventure booklet and When Gok Met Gek, a bedtime story illustrated by a young Thai artist.
