Four hotels, three cities. Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is continuing to expand in Germany by simultaneously acquiring two hotels on Alexanderplatz in Berlin and one hotel in Düsseldorf and Dortmund respectively. The new locations will complement the company’s portfolio by offering different hotel concepts whilst strengthening business, MICE and leisure capacities at the same time.
Berlin: 624 rooms at the heart of the German capital
The two new hotels opening on Alexanderplatz will bring the Berlin portfolio to a total of nine. The new additions will together provide 624 rooms and create more capacities in one of the capital’s most important hotel locations – only a short walk from the TV Tower and with direct links to the public transport network.
The Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz by Leonardo Hotels will initially operate as a white label and will be incorporated into the Leonardo Hotels brand portfolio after the integration phase has been completed. 336 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a bar, a gym and sauna area and 13 function rooms able to accommodate more than 700 people will all make this former H4 hotel a particularly interesting option for business travellers, meetings and events.
The Leonardo Smart Berlin Alexanderplatz, the second hotel to be launched under Leonardo Hotels’ newest brand, is situated right next door. This former H2 Hotel will boast 288 rooms, a breakfast restaurant, a mini market, a cycle rental service and parking facilities. Four-bed rooms will also be available for families and groups. A deliberately straightforward and highly efficient concept will be delivered to a location that epitomises the dynamism of Berlin.
North Rhine-Westphalia: Smart in Düsseldorf, Royal in Dortmund
Leonardo Hotels is embracing two different concepts in North Rhine-Westphalia too.
The Leonardo Smart Düsseldorf will increase the overall portfolio by a further 250 rooms. Another former H2 Hotel, it is located about one kilometre from the main railway station and five kilometres from the airport. Further amenities include a restaurant with 280 seats, a bar and car parking. As well as double and twin rooms, there will also be multi-bed rooms able to sleep up to four and special accessible rooms for disabled guests.
This new addition expands the presence of Leonardo Hotels in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia to a total of five hotels. It is also the first Leonardo Smart in the state.
The Leonardo Royal Dortmund is another new hotel with a strong focus on the business and MICE segments. It is located directly opposite the city’s Trade Fair and Congress Centre and will house 166 rooms and suites. The accommodation on offer is complemented by a restaurant complete with sun terrace, a bar and a spa area featuring a sauna, steam bath and fitness area.
Six rooms with enough space for up to 200 people will be available for meetings and events. The important leisure and visitor attractions of Dortmund City Centre, Westfalenpark and SIGNAL IDUNA PARK are all just two kilometres away. The Leonardo Royal Dortmund, previously the Steigenberger Dortmund, is the group’s second hotel venture in the city and combines business and leisure travel at a single location.
Major renovation works are scheduled to take place next year. The building will undergo fundamental modernisation and be repositioned for the future following a redesign of the rooms and public areas.
Four hotels, different concepts, but a joint step forward
This simultaneous acquisition of four former Revo Hotels underlines Leonardo’s aspiration to pursue the further development of its own network in strong urban locations. The four hotels add varying concepts to the portfolio. Whereas Leonardo Smart stands for an efficient and uncomplicated hotel experience, Leonardo Royal is aligned to the needs of business and MICE guests. Together, the new locations thus address different target groups and market segments. But the expansion is not yet over. More Revo Hotels will join the Leonardo Hotels portfolio over the coming weeks.
Our acquisition of four hotels at the same time sends out a clear signal for our continued growth in Germany. Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund are attractive markets for us, and demand from different segments is strong. These new hotels will allow us to expand our offer and to welcome even more guests to these important locations. We will also be bolstering our presence in the respective cities.
