HotelMinder Launches the Tech Index, Shifting from Popularity-Based, Hotelier Tech Ratings to an Expert-Led Evaluation Model

Dublin, Ireland – September 22, 2026 – Today, HotelMinder is proud to announce the HotelMinder Tech Index, an evolution of the former marketplace which shifts from traditional hotelier-led tech ratings to an expert-led evaluation model, designed to give hoteliers more relevant, context-based guidance on which operational solutions provide the best value for which types and sizes of properties. Today, the company also announced the 2027 HotelMinder Experts’ Choice Awards, a new award that will extend the same expert-led approach to traditional tech award ratings.

The pivot addresses a structural flaw in traditional hotel technology marketplaces: ratings that prioritize ease of use and review volume. The Tech Index rankings will combine three data sets: reviews from independent hospitality industry experts and consultants, which carry the greatest weight; hotelier reviews; and AI-powered internal and external market signals. As a result, the Index makes it easier for hoteliers to understand which solutions best suit their hotel type, size, and/or operational challenges.

HotelMinder is also extending that same level of specificity to another tool that hoteliers use to evaluate tech solutions with the launch of the 2027 HotelMinder Experts’ Choice Awards. Unlike traditional “best of tech” awards that name a single generic winner in each technology category, the Experts’ Choice Awards will recognize multiple solutions based on the specific hotel segments and use cases where they perform best. For example, one PMS could win as the best fit for independent hotels, while another could be recognized as the best PMS for large, multi-property groups.

“Buying a new operational solution is not a low-risk decision so hotels should not have to rely on popularity alone to make this important decision,” continued Benjamin. “The Experts' Choice Awards recognize solutions that perform particularly well for specific hotel segments and use cases, based on independent expert evaluations, hotelier feedback and internal and external market signals—not sponsorship or paid visibility. This gives hoteliers more relevant guidance and gives technology companies recognition for the use cases for which their solutions genuinely deliver value.”

Award rankings are calculated using the same weighting of expert reviews, hotelier reviews and AI-powered internal and external market signals that powers the Tech Index. This approach gives hoteliers more actionable guidance when evaluating technology, while giving vendors independent validation of the markets and use cases where their solutions deliver the most value.

The review qualification period for the first annual Experts' Choice Awards ends on October 16, with winners being announced in November 2026.
