Field & Stream Lodge Co. Announces Expansion to Bend, Oregon and Big Bear, California

Field & Stream Lodge Co., the hospitality platform born from the iconic Field & Stream media brand, announces the location of its next two properties: a 151-room basecamp in Bend, Oregon, set to open in 2028 following a full renovation of the former Shilo Inn; and the a renovation of the former Holiday Inn Resort Big Bear, a 148-room property on Village Drive featuring a restaurant, meeting space, suites, and an outdoor pool and hot tub. The forthcoming reimagined hotels mark Field & Stream Lodge Co.'s second and third lodge since its debut in Bozeman, Montana, both slated to open in 2028. Founded by Starwood Capital Group and AJ Capital Partners, Field & Stream Lodge Co. plans to continue to expand with more locations nationally.

Bend is one of the fastest-growing outdoor recreation markets in the country. The lodge sits directly on the banks of the Deschutes River, a waterway known for its blue-ribbon trout and steelhead fishing, and less than two miles from downtown Bend, home to a concentration of outdoor lifestyle brands, craft breweries, and an active local culture. Guests will also have year-round access to skiing and mountain biking at Mt. Bachelor and climbing at Smith Rock. 

Just a two-hour drive from Los Angeles, Big Bear is a year-round mountain destination in the San Bernardino National Forest. The lodge sits along the main road through the village, a 10-minute walk from Big Bear Lake, and just minutes from Bear Mountain Golf Course. Winter centers on the Alterra-owned Big Bear Mountain Resort, spanning Bear Mountain, Snow Summit, and Snow Valley with roughly 680 skiable acres across the three mountains, while summer brings boating and water sports on the 3,000-acre lake, along with mountain biking and more than 100 miles of nearby hiking and biking trails. 

Bend and Big Bear both have the same qualities that drew us to Bozeman; they are towns built around getting outside with true, year-round adventure in every direction. We’re seeing outdoor recreation continuing to pull more travelers out of cities and into towns like this, so we're looking to build with the same approach we had for our first lodge. Our hotels are rooted in place, and created for outdoor travel seekers of every kind, including families, first-timers, seasoned adventurers, and everyone in between
