Introducing an all new hospitalitynet.org

Our next step in positioning HN as the industry’s Ultimate Content Destination

Time flies… Who would have thought that Hospitality Net would still be a leader in our industry after we launched our first site. Today, we are proud to announce a new version of HN replacing our last version that was designed 5 years ago.

Here’s a rundown of major enhancements and new features which we are introducing today:

Intuitive UX

HN’s new UX was developed by a graduate from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London. Our objective is to deliver a seamless and fast user experience for both web and mobile usage of our website. With the new UX, we aim to position HN as the undisputed and agnostic information resource for hospitality professionals.

Personalization

HN now delivers a custom-built timeline of contents based on user preferences. Users can now ‘follow’ organizations, hotel brands, authors, and specific areas of professional interest. Our next project is to deliver a weekly email digest based on user preferences.

Dark Mode

Dark Mode is an extension that helps you quickly turn your HN screen to dark at nighttime. Dark mode enhances the user experience and can reduce power usage of your mobile device by a significant amount. Since testing the new HN I have become addicted to dark mode… I love it!

Enhanced Search

The new Hospitality Net also introduces an update of its search features. The main (top-page) search proposes a preview of search results in different content categories, allowing users to find what they are looking for in a more intuitive way.

New Organization Pages

Organization listings have always been a favorite resource for our users. Our re-designed listings allow easy search within an organization and drilling down results by region and content type.

Explainers

HN Explainers provide a comprehensive explanation of terms and definitions used in the global hotel/hospitality industry. Similar to a known format, HN Explainers can be seen as "Hospitality for Dummies"... or a "Wikipedia-style" collection of articles that decipher, decode, teach and illustrate the workings of our industry.

HNtv

HNtv, our platform for streaming video content introduced last year, now gets a more prominent role within HN. HNtv features different formats ranging from one-to-one conversations to topical webinars that are connected with HN’s World Panel Viewpoints. Expect to see an increase in video content coming up in 2022!

All in all, I see the new HN as yet another milestone for HN. Kudos to my colleagues Daobvy Schobsoon, Jill Dassen and Alan Young, designer Stef Roelings!

Enjoy the new HN… and please do leave any comments or suggestions in the comments field of this article.

My journey in hospitality began well before the internet, but it was the digital revolution that truly shaped my path. In 1994, I founded HospitalityNet in the Netherlands, the first platform of its kind to bring B2B hospitality news online. Since then, I've helped launch projects such as WIWIH, PineappleSearch, and the HOTEL Yearbook. Along the way, I've had the opportunity to connect with inspiring people across the industry and...

Founded in 1994 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, Hospitality Net is the #1 B2B portal for global hotel professionals and one of the longest-running independent hospitality B2B publications in the world. Hospitality Net acts as a neutral broker and publisher of hotel business information, built on a membership model for all stakeholders in the global hotel industry.
