Hotels are full as the press conferences begin
As of September 27, the day before the press conferences for the 2006 Edition of the Paris Motor show, Parisian hotels were already full, with an occupancy rate at 98.9% and a RevPAR up by more than 25% compared to Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Hotels on the city outskirts managed to anticipate this level of saturation for the first days of the Paris motor show, increasing their rates accordingly in order to benefit from the event and report a 24% rise in RevPAR Wednesday, September 27 and +33% the following day. Consequently, a record RevPAR of more than 150 euros was posted on the dates of the press conferences (September 27 and 28).
The first weekend of October was also particularly favourable to the Parisian hotel industry with an occupancy rate higher than 90%. During this weekend, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barrière at the Longchamp Racecourse generated a significant surplus of activity.
Record of occupancy on October 4
The first week of October was also excellent. Indeed the hotel industry recorded its best occupancy rate on Wednesday, October 4: 99.6%! On that day, it was next to impossible to find a room either in Paris or its outskirts. Consequently, many visitors had to look for a hotel outside the region.
During the first two weeks of October the average occupancy level was higher than 90%. Average room rates progressed by more than 9% and the RevPAR posted a 13.8% increase over last year.
