Accor Greater China set to bring Sofitel, Novotel and Novotel Living to Changzhou High Speed Rail New Town

Accor Greater China, together with Changzhou High-Speed Railway Town and Changzhou High-Tech Group Co., Ltd., has announced the signing of a multiple property hospitality project in the fast-growing community of Changzhou High Speed Rail New Town. Sofitel Changzhou will bring a French luxury experience, complemented by Novotel Changzhou and a Novotel Living Changzhou extended stay hotel. The deal comes as Accor is experiencing an ambitious period of growth across Greater China, having recently opened its 700th hotel, with more than 100 hotels set to open by year-end and 150+ development projects currently underway.

Jorgen Christensen has been named General Manager at Marco Polo Changzhou

Jorgen has been in the hotel industry for over 25 years and has held senior positions with highly regarded hotel companies such as Accor, Shangri-La and Langham. He has effectively opened four luxury hotels and repositioned four others, resulting in positive changes for the properties and increased business with related returns for the owners. He is equipped with solid managerial experience acquired from working in different parts of the world including Europe, United States, China and Hong Kong. Jorgen’s most recent position was General Manager of the award winning Mira Moon Hotel Hong Kong. His first stint in Hong Kong was back in 1996, where he witnessed the last bastion of the British Empire change hands prior to the region’s handover back to China. In 2001, Jorgen took a year off to pursue his passion for Chinese culture and interest to learn Mandarin, enrolling in Beijing’s renowned Tsinghua University. Now less than 15 years later, Jorgen is delighted to be back in China and based in the beautiful Marco Polo Changzhou property that is surrounded by 19 acres of lush green garden. It is located less than one hour by high-speed train from Shanghai.

Michael Gnaegi has been appointed as General Manager at Marco Polo Changzhou

Michael is an experienced hotel operator and has held several senior management positions at Kempinski Hotel Group. He joined Marco Polo Hotels in 2010 as Hotel Manager of the Gateway Hotel, Hong Kong and in his newlypromoted post as General Manager of the Marco Polo Changzhou; he will oversee the preopening activities of the group’s 7th hotel in China. Prior to joining Marco Polo Hotels, he was the Hotel Manager of Kempinski Hotel Baltschug Moscow in Russia. Michael Gnaegi is an alumni of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.

Andy Zheng has been appointed Director of Human Resources. Andy has almost 16 years of working experience with various luxury international hotels, mainly involved in the pre-opening projects and Human Resources management. Prior to joining the Marco Polo Changzhou, he held the same position with the Marco Polo Jinjiang, the group’s 5th hotel in China.
