Fairmont Chengdu in China has named Philip Smith as general manager. A hospitality professional of more than 30 years, Smith will be in charge of providing leadership for pre-opening activity at the hotel, which is expected to open in late 2015, as well as the ongoing operations support post opening. Smith was previously the general manager of the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake.
Andrew Abram has been appointed as General Manager of the Niccolo Chengdu, the brand’s very first hotel.

The St. Regis Chengdu today announces it is set to unveil in July 2014. Following the brand's legacy and bespoke luxury, the hotel will be the 32nd St. Regis hotel worldwide, and the sixth in the Greater China region, following recent landmark openings in Tianjin, Sanya, Lhasa, and Shenzhen.
Richard Deutl has become general manager of the St Regis Chengdu, which is scheduled to open in July 2014. Deutl has more than seven years of management experience in China, having served as general manager of Sheraton hotels in Tianjin and Wuxi. He first joined Starwood back in 1988.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Fairmont Chengdu Residences, the luxury hotel brand's first residential project in China. Pan Pacific Hotels Group has signed two management agreements for PARKROYAL Chengdu and Pan Pacific Zhuhai, marking the upcoming debut of the PARKROYAL brand and the opening of its sixth "Pan Pacific" property in China. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has appointed Mr Christopher Clark as General Manager of the soon-to-open Ritz-Carlton Chengdu. Mr Clark leaves his role as General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Seoul to join the Ritz-Carlton Chengdu, a role which will include overseeing the hotel’s opening this year. Mr Clark has been involved in the opening of several other Ritz-Carlton hotels in cities including Istanbul, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Pudong and Hong Kong. US-born Mr Clark began his Ritz-Carlton career in 1997 with his appointment of Director of the Front Office at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr Clark continued his career at the Ritz-Carlton in a variety of positions and properties including Ritz-Carlton hotels Kuala Lumpur, Bali Resort & Spa, St. Thomas, Sanya, Tokyo and the Ritz-Carlton Seoul. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has today announced that it will manage a luxury hotel which is under development in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, China.
Mandarin Oriental, Chengdu, which is slated to open in 2015, will form part of a prestigious mixed-use development located on a prime riverfront site in the Jin-jiang district, close to the city's key commercial and entertainment areas and opposite the ancient Wang-jiang Park, which dates back to the Ming dynasty.

Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is adding a new luxury hotel to its Chinese portfolio: Swissôtel Chengdu in Sichuan province.
