Philip Smith has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Chengdu

Fairmont Chengdu in China has named Philip Smith as general manager. A hospitality professional of more than 30 years, Smith will be in charge of providing leadership for pre-opening activity at the hotel, which is expected to open in late 2015, as well as the ongoing operations support post opening. Smith was previously the general manager of the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake.

Andre Erasmus has been appointed as General Manager at Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain

Andre Erasmus has been appointed General Manager of Six Senses’ first property to be developed in China – Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain. Scheduled to open in early 2014, the stunning property is located at the picturesque gateway to the majestic Qing Cheng Mountains and has been created to complement the UNESCO World Heritage & Natural Cultural site nearby Dujiangyan.

Christopher Clark has been appointed as General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has appointed Mr Christopher Clark as General Manager of the soon-to-open Ritz-Carlton Chengdu. Mr Clark leaves his role as General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Seoul to join the Ritz-Carlton Chengdu, a role which will include overseeing the hotel’s opening this year. Mr Clark has been involved in the opening of several other Ritz-Carlton hotels in cities including Istanbul, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Pudong and Hong Kong. US-born Mr Clark began his Ritz-Carlton career in 1997 with his appointment of Director of the Front Office at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr Clark continued his career at the Ritz-Carlton in a variety of positions and properties including Ritz-Carlton hotels Kuala Lumpur, Bali Resort & Spa, St. Thomas, Sanya, Tokyo and the Ritz-Carlton Seoul. The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu is the company’s 10th property in China and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2013.

Bernard Lo has been appointed as General Manager at Grand Dorsett Chengdu

Kosmopolito Hotel International (KHI) has appointedMr. Bernard Lo as General Manager of Grand Dorsett Chengdu, which is scheduled to open in September 2012. A well respected hotel professional who has more than 40 years of experience in the industry, Bernard was most recently the General Manager of Intercontinental Century City Chengdu, one of the most luxurious hotels in southwest China operated by the Intercontinental Hotels Group. His career has taken him around the world and he has worked with numerous upscale hotels in senior management capacity in Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing and many other key getaway cities. “With his experience and expertise, Bernard is certainly a great asset to the company. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and excellent understanding of the hospitality industry, especially in China and will play a key role in the successful operation of Grand Dorsett Chengdu ,” said Winnie Chiu, President and Executive Director of Kosmopolito Hotels International. Also joining Grand Dorsett Chengdu are Edwin Ho as Director of Finance, Calvin Ma as Director of Sales & Marketing, Sujith Shetty as Director of F&B, and Justin Lin as Director of Rooms.
