Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) today officially signed the agreement allowing it to acquire 75% of the shares of the Swiss School for Tourism and Hospitality AG (SSTH) in Passugg.After a period of in-depth analysis which began at the end of January 2013 and focused on both the strategic and economic aspects of this investment, EHL is now completing its acquisition of 75% of the SSTH. hotelleriesuisse, the umbrella organisation of the Swiss hotel industry, holds, alongside EHL a minority stake in the capital of the School, which is located in the heart of the Canton of Graubünden. The Schörghuber family, which owns the company Arabella (Schweiz), has decided to transfer their shareholding to EHL, thus demonstrating their confidence in EHL's ability to ensure the future of the SSTH.

At the start of the new academic year in September 2013, Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) welcomed a total of 394 new students for all courses. This year, almost 990 candidates applied to start the Preparatory Year at EHL. The admission rate was 36%, with 300 students accepted for the September 2013 entry.

The renowned Beau-Rivage Palace, Lausanne's destination for the world's elite and jet-set for over 150 years, has completed the first phase of a major renovation, unveiling 37 new guestrooms and two luxury suites in the hotel's Palace Wing. With 61 additional guestrooms set to be completed in April 2014, the renovation will cost approximately US$28 million and is being overseen by acclaimed interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon.
The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) is devising its future campus by adopting an innovative, unique and international approach. The students of ten architecture universities from around the world, along with students from EHL, will meet in early July to devise their future place of studies.

The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne has announced the appointment of Dr Charles Ray Thomas Jr. as Director of the full-time Executive MBA in Hospitality Administration (EMBA). In his new role, Dr Thomas will oversee all aspects of the EMBA programme. He joined Southwest Airlines in 1987 as a Financial Analyst. Prior to this, he worked for five years as a Certified Public Accountant and partner at Thomas, McBride & Associates.Dr Thomas also taught finance, managerial accounting and accounting for decision making in various MBA and EMBA programmes in the US. Dr Thomas comes from the US where he was awarded a Master of Taxation from Baylor University and then a PhD in finance and accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington.
