RIU Opens the Newly Built 238-key “Adults Only” Riu Palace Jamaica

Riu Palace Jamaica will welcome its first customers from 6th December onwards. This small and deluxe hotel comprising 238 rooms will become RIU's fifth in Jamaica and the first in offering the chain's exclusive 'Adults Only' service in the Caribbean country. Located next to the Riu Montego Bay, in the beautiful Mahoe Bay, this new 24-Hour All Inclusive hotel provides a modern and welcoming design, together with new and deluxe services. Total investment in the project, including land, construction and equipment, reached 43 million dollars (approximately 32 million euro).

Melia Hotels International Announces Melia Just Outside Montego Bay, Jamaica

The Chairman of Melia Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrer, and the Ministers of Tourism and of Labour & Social Security of Jamaica, Wykeham McNeil andDerrick Kellier, yesterday formalized the contract by which the Government of Jamaica entrusts Melia to operate the flagship resort currently known as "Braco Village Hotel & Spa" in Braco, on Jamaica's north coast.

Colan Vance has been appointed as Director of Food and Beverage at Round Hill Hotel and Villas

Colan Vance is the new director of F&B at Round Hill Hotel and Villas in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He was last doing development for Ark Restaurants in Washington D.C. and New York. Before that, Vance worked at The French Laundry (Yountville, CA) and The Inn at Little Washington (Washington, VA). Vance is joined by assistant F&B director Deborah Colledge, a Ritz-Carlton vet who was working most recently in Washington, D.C. The couple started at Round Hill October 15.

From Pirates to Hoteliers | CHTA To Celebrate Golden Jubilee With 50th Anniversary Gala

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2012 and will host a Golden Jubilee Gala on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 7 pm in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The formal event will feature a gathering of many of the individuals who have led the hospitality and tourism industry over the past 50 years along with the unveiling of From Pirates to Hoteliers, a glossy, 200-page coffee-table quality book that commemorates the history of Caribbean tourism.

Jean-Marc Rousseau has been appointed as General Manager at The Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort

The appointment marks a return for Rousseau, who previously held the position of hotel manager at the 524-room all-inclusive resort from 1997 to 2002. Over his 25-year career, Rousseau has served in managerial capacities for some of the world’s top hospitality brands, including Hyatt, Renaissance, Sandals, and SuperClubs. Immediately prior to returning to the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Montego Bay, Rousseau served as general manager of the 360-room Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa in Westmoreland, Jamaica. He has also held executive hospitality industry positions in Antigua, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. A native of France, Rousseau is a graduate of Lycée Hôtelier.
