Michelle has been at the InterContinental San Francisco for over two years and has had a strong impact within the high-tech market. Her previous experience as Assistant General Manager and Group Sales Manager in addition to her ten years in the hospitality industry will serve her well in her new role. Michelle’s ability to generate high business to business revenue and successfully break into new markets are crucial to her new position, as Michelle is assisting business development strategies and negotiations, in addition to overseeing the sales team.

Solera Smith has been appointed as the InterContinental Mark Hopkins’ Director of Convention Services after being with the InterContinental Hotels Group for seven years and in the hospitality industry for 16. Her extensive knowledge of event execution serves her well in her new position, as she will be in charge of providing management and direction to convention employees in addition to business forecasting and strategy. Solera started with the InterContinental Hotels Group as a Senior Catering Sales Manager, then Associate Director of Catering, prior to her new Director of Convention Services role.

Yael Rosenwald has been appointed as Director of National Accounts at InterContinental San Fransisco

After joining the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco group four years ago, Yael Rosenwald is the newly appointed Director of National Accounts. Yael has worked her way up at the InterContinental San Francisco, starting as Sales Manager, then a Senior Sales Manager and now as the Director of National Accounts. She brings an excellent understanding of luxury hotel sales as well as a proven ability to consistently book conference space and rooms. Yael will continue booking large Association groups, specifically between the years 2016 and 2018 while the convention center is being renovated in addition to overseeing big-name accounts.

Candace Palec has been appointed as the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco’s Director of Group Sales after being with the InterContinental Hotels Group for five years. Her extensive knowledge in hotel sales and consistent achievement of revenue goals and performance objectives will complement her new role. In her previous roles with InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco, Candace booked large high-tech and Association groups, As Director of Group Sales, Candace will ensure all sales managers achieve revenue goals, implement new strategies to increase market share and oversee all aspects of the group sales department for two hotels.

Steven Cowan has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton San Francisco Union Square

Most recently, Cowan served as the general manager of Washington Hilton, a position he held since 2009. In this role, he oversaw a two-year $150 million hotel restoration as well as numerous high profile events at the landmark hotel including the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. Additionally, Cowan has held the position of complex general manager for both the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC – Crystal City and Embassy Suites Crystal City – National Airport as well as general manager of DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Atlanta – Galleria. Before joining Hilton Worldwide, Cowan served as general manager with Berkeley Hotels located in Portland and Brunswick, Maine. He began his hospitality career as director of purchasing at Sheraton White Mountain Resort in North Conway, New Hampshire.
