John Roberts has been named General Manager at Jumeirah Himalayas Shanghai

An Australian national with almost 30 years' experience in the hospitality industry, John joined Jumeirah in 2010 as Hotel Manager of Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai. His extensive experience in Food & Beverage and hotel operations ensured the successful opening Jumeirah's first hotel in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Jumeirah, John was General Manager at the Marco Polo Jinjiang, Fujian in China. Earlier in his career, John worked with Sheraton, Hyatt, Kempinski, Westin & Le Meridien, working in Australia, Mexico, Hong Kong, Turkey, Taiwan, South Korea and China.

Carmen Lam has been appointed as Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, which counts notable hotels like Shanghai’s legendary Fairmont Peace Hotel and the recently opened Fairmont Makati as part of its storied hotel portfolio, has named Carmen Lam as vice president, hotel sales and marketing, Asia Pacific. Lam, who will be based in Shanghai, joins Fairmont in this newly created role to provide sales and marketing direction to Fairmont’s impressive hotels in Asia Pacific and support to the luxury operator’s burgeoning pipeline of regional development. Lam arrives at Fairmont having previously served as senior vice president, leisure & brand sales and marketing for Hong Kong/Macau-based Melco Crown Entertainment. Over the course of a career that has spanned more than two decades, Lam has also held a series of management positions with leading brands in Asia including roles with Shangri-La Hotels and InterContinental Hotels Group.

George Wee has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Peace Hotel

Shanghai’s most famous hotel, Fairmont Peace Hotel, hails the arrival of George Wee as general manager. A well-traveled hotelier, Wee has traversed the globe during a storied hotel career which has seen him rounding out his curriculum vitae in top cities including Sydney, Beijing, and Shanghai to name a few. He joins the hotel after serving as the general manager at the Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns, Australia.

Kenneth Macpherson has been appointed as Chief Executive, Greater China at IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group)

IHG is pleased to announce that Kenneth Macpherson will be taking over from Keith as Chief Executive, Greater China. Kenneth joins us from Diageo, where he is currently General Manager and Board Director of Sichuan Shuijingfang Company Ltd, a RMB 9.4 billion company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange as Sichuan Swellfun Company Ltd. Kenneth has been based in China since 2005, having previously led the development of Diageo’s China strategy. He will assume his role with IHG in April, 2013, and will also become a member of the Executive Committee reporting to Chief Executive, Richard Solomons. Since 2000, Kenneth has held senior management roles of progressive responsibility with Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks business. From his role as General Manager, Diageo Indian Ocean spirits based in La Reunion, France, through to his current position as General Manager and Board Director of Shuijingfang, Diageo's joint-venture partner in China, based in Chengdu. During his career with Diageo, Kenneth has also worked in Shanghai, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.
