Rosewood Shanghai's Opening in 2024 Confirms the Ultra-Luxury Brand's Lock on Key China Destinations

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® will enter Shanghai - China's economic powerhouse and "Paris of the East" - with the opening of Rosewood Shanghai in 2024. This latest international jewel in the collection's crown will signify a key milestone for the group: the opening firmly solidifies Rosewood's foothold and trademark ultra-luxury hospitality in China, joining Rosewood Beijing, the recently opened Rosewood Sanya, Rosewood Hong Kong opening in Winter this year, and Rosewood Chengdu which will open in 2023.

Boris Blobel has been appointed as General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Pudong, Shanghai

Blobel joined the industry in as a front office manager at Grand Hyatt Beijing in 2002 before moving on to Hyatt Regency Hangzhou as director of rooms at in 2004. Another stint at Grand Hyatt Beijing later, Blobel joined Conrad Shanghai as resident manager in 2008, taking over as director of operations before taking on the role of resort manager of the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

Jerry Huang has been appointed as President of Development in Greater China & Mongolia at Hilton

Hilton has appointed Jerry Huang as president of development in Greater China and Mongolia, effective Sept. 10. He'll be based in Hilton's China regional office in Shanghai and report to Matt Fry, SVP of development for Asia-Pacific. He replaces Francis Lee who'll be leaving Hilton to pursue opportunities in the investment and private equity industries.

Mariefe Barce has been appointed as General Manager at Two Shama properties

ONYX Hospitality Group today announced the appointment of Mariefe Barce as General Manager of Shama Changfeng Shanghai and Shama Hongqiao Shanghai, the two soon to open Shama serviced apartments in Shanghai.In her new role as the General Manager of Shama Changfeng and Shama Hongqiao, Mariefe will be responsible for the successful opening and continued management and operations of the two new Shama properties in Shanghai. The 362-unit Shama Changfeng and the 132-unit Shama Hongqiao, both scheduled to open in the second half of 2018, are the first two Shama properties developed as part of the strategic partnership between ONYX Hospitality Group and Sincere Holdings Group, one of the top real estate enterprises in China. Under the partnership, Sincere receives exclusivity rights to develop and open Shama serviced apartments in 12 key cities across China, including Shanghai, location of the headquarters of Sincere, the Greater China regional base of ONYX, as well as the first two co-developed projects.A travel and hospitality industry veteran with over 18 years of working experience, Mariefe began her journey with Shama in 2006 as a Trainee Assistant Operations Manager in Hong Kong. During her first eight years with Shama in Hong Kong, she supported the pre-opening of Shama Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong in 2008, and oversaw the operations of six Shama properties in Hong Kong between 2012 and 2014 as the Associate Director, Operations, following a series of role expansions in the intervening years. In 2014, she relocated to Bangkok and was promoted to the position of General Manager of Shama Sukhumvit Bangkok and Ekamai Gardens Bangkok, bringing her extensive pool of knowledge and experience to the first Shama serviced apartment property in Thailand. Shama is a leading and award-winning provider of premium serviced apartments across Asia, with 21 serviced apartment properties across Asia Pacific, including 10 in the development pipeline in markets such as Australia, China and Malaysia. Shama was awarded "Best Serviced Apartment Operator of Asia" for the fifth time at the AHF Asia Hotel Awards 2017, and the "2017 Hong Kong Business High Flyers Award" under the "Serviced Apartment" category.
