Markus Nufer has been appointed as Executive Chef at Outrigger Castaway Island, Fiji Resort

Markus Nufer was only 15 when he began cooking in Zurich in his native Switzerland and by 19, had obtained his degree as a chef from the Swiss Culinary Academy. In 1991, he moved to Fiji to become sous chef for the Regent Four Seasons Resort before taking up a position with the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong as sous chef. He later moved to the Mandarin Oriental Kahala in Hawaii as executive sous chef. In search of a challenge, he joined the six-star rated luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises as chef de cuisine on the exclusive Crystal Symphony and was quickly promoted to executive chef working across the Crystal Cruise Line fleet, a position he held for 16 years. On May 9, Markus dropped anchor at Outrigger-owned and managed Castaway Island and is looking forward to blending his global experience with the Asian, Indian and Fijian flavors for which the resort’s cuisine is famed.

Paul Cutler has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Outrigger on the Lagoon, and Castaway Island

Most of Cutler’s employment has been in Australia, with a focus on Asia-Pacific hotels and resorts. His most recent position was as the Australia-based sales and marketing manager for Fiji’s Nanuku Resort and Spa. His extensive sales and marketing background also includes experience as sales manager – conference and corporate for Newport Mirage/Bayfield Hotels; sales and marketing manager for Plantation Island and Lomani Island Resort; director Australia/New Zealand for Continuity Marketing; regional sales manager, leisure, for Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts; sales manager Australia for Blue Lagoon Cruises and Tapa Holdings; national sales manager for Driveaway Holidays; and with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
