IHG signs agreement for Staybridge Suites Manama Al Seef

IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world's leading hotel companies, has announced the signing of Staybridge Suites Manama Al Seef, marking the debut of the brand in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Expected to open in January 2020, the 128-room extended stay hotel will operate under a management agreement with major developer, Bin Faqeeh Real Estate Investment Company S.P.C. The signing was held with the attendance of H.E. Sheikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) in the headquarters of the Bin Faqeeh Real Estate Investment Company S.P.C.

Proving his leadership with a promotion to Executive Sous Chef in 2016, in his new role as Executive Chef of the five-star Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, Lejard will oversee a culinary team of 130 chefs, along with the menu creation and kitchen operations of the resort's 11 restaurants, in-room dining and banquet catering divisions.

Andrea Colla has joined The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain as the new executive assistant manager (EAM)- Food and Beverage.Originally from Asolo, Italy, Colla will oversee all facets of the food and beverage operations, including the resort's award-winning restaurants, in-room dining, and banquets catering division.Bringing over two decades of luxury hospitality experience to the resort, Colla has worked for some of the greatest names in hospitality, including The Ritz and The Savoy in London; The St. Regis, Rome; and most recently for the Four Season Hotels and Resorts in both Europe and Riyadh.Colla holds a Hospitality Management Certificate from Cornell University and Food and Beverage and Catering Management Certificate from the Institute Alberghiero Giuseppe Maffioli, Castelfranco Veneto. Bernard de Villèle has been appointed as General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain

De Villèle's career began in the hospitality industry more than 35 years ago after graduating from the world-renowned École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland with a degree in Hotel Management. His first role was as an F&B Manager at the Hilton Strasbourg. Since then, his career has crossed multiple continents with tenures in award-winning properties and senior management and executive roles for St. Regis, Four Seasons, Hilton, InterContinental (IHG), Orient-Express Hotels, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Savoy Group and TAJ Hotels. Highlights of these vast experiences with leading brands, include: serving as Lebanon Area General Manager for Habtoor Hospitality; leading the opening of The Lanesborough in Hyde Park, London; managing major renovations at the legendary Belmond La Samanna with Belmond Ltd. (formally Orient-Express Hotels); and serving as the Vice President of Business Development & Operations in Europe where he helped to establish the noted Taj 51 Buckingham Gate.

Out of this, his longest stint was with the Accor Group where he spent nearly 19 years serving various hotels in different capacities.

Bert Plas has been appointed as General Manager at Grand Swiss-Belresort Seef

wiss-Belhotel International (SBI) has appointed Mr. Bert Plas as the General Manager for Grand Swiss-Belresort Seef in Bahrain.  Mr. Plas entered the hospitality industry upon completion of his education from the prestigious Hesser Hotel Management School in Zurich, Switzerland and Hotel Management School in Zwolle, Netherlands. During the course of his distinguished career, he had the opportunity to work in many senior roles including the position of General Manager with a number of successful hotels such as Crown Plaza Hotel in Trinidad Tobago and Le Meridien Hotel, British Guyana. In 2009, Mr. Plas joined the Sofitel Hotels & Resorts where he stayed for over eight years serving various properties as the General Manager. Prior to joining The Grand Swiss-Belresort Seef, Mr. Plas was the General Manager of Sofitel Jeddah Corniche in KSA since September 2015.
