Chutima Kaewta-Fortescue has been appointed as General Manager at Eastin Hotel Makkasan Bangkok

Mr. John Westoby, Managing Director – South East Asia of Absolute Hotel Services, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs. Chutima Kaewta-Fortescue as the new General Manager of its 280-room 4-star property, Eastin Hotel Makkasan Bangkok as of 1st September 2012. Mrs. Kaewta-Fortescue, who has a Bachelor of Arts – Business Management from Bundit Boriharn Thurakit College, began her career at The Regent of Bangkok. She then joined the pre-opening team of the Emerald Hotel Bangkok and was appointed Assistant Executive Housekeeper in 1995. After that, she joined Sofitel Raja Orchid Khon Kaen (currently rebranded as Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid) as Executive Housekeeper, and in 2006 was promoted to Rooms Division Manager and later as Director of Rooms before she made a decision to join U Inchantree Kanchanaburi as General Manager in 2010.

Andrew Abram has been appointed as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi

Andrew Abram will succeed Greg Liddell as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai with effect from 24 August, 2012. Mr Abram began his career with Mandarin Oriental in 2003 as Resident Manager of The Excelsior, Hong Kong, before being appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta in 2004. Andrew has overseen the closure and total renovation of this hotel, prior to its successful re-launch in 2009.

Marc Landgraf has been appointed as General Manager at Outrigger Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort and Spa

Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific has appointed Mr Marc Landgraf to oversee the management and operations of the Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort and Spa, effective July 1, 2012. The property, which officially becomes the Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort and Spa on November 3, is currently being upgraded and is located in a idyllic beachfront location on a quiet peninsula of Phi Phi Island, midway between Phuket and Krabi in the inner Andaman Sea.

Jonas Sjostedt has been appointed as General Manager at Koh Chang Tropicana Beach Resort and Spa

Thirayuth Chirathivat, Chief Executive Officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Jonas Sjostedt as General Manager of Koh Chang Tropicana Beach Resort & Spa (managed by Centara). Mr. Sjostedt is a Swedish national who has worked with leading Scandinavian tour operators and has experience in various countries including Greece, Spain, Brazil, and Cyprus. He started his career with Centara Hotels & Resorts as Resident Manager at Centara Kata Resort and then transferred to Centara Karon Resort in the same position. Prior to joining Koh Chang Tropicana Beach Resort & Spa (managed by Centara), he was General Manager of Centra Ashlee Hotel Patong. Mr. Sjostedt is overseeing the extensive renovations and upgrading to facilities and services that are being carried out prior to its rebranding as Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Beach Resort on October 15, 2012. The hotel remains open to guests during this period.

Martin Fabiano has been appointed as General Manager at U Sunsuri Phuket

Absolute Hotel Services has announced the appointment of Martin Fabiano as U Sunsuri Phuket’s general manager. Fabiano, who has a background in hotel event/banquet management, formerly worked in Asia, Canada and Europe with international hotel chains including Hilton, Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons. Prior to his new assignment as the general manager of U Sunsuri Phuket, he was general manager at the Park Plaza Bangok Soi 18.U Sunsuri Phuket will open its doors to guests on November 1.

Eric Piatti has been appointed as General Manager at Swissôtel Nai Lert Park

This appointment marks a return for Eric Piatti, who was once Executive Assistant Manager at Swissôtel Nai Lert Park. He first embarked on his career with the group at Swissôtel Le Plaza, Basel, Switzerland and has since progressed to assume several senior executive roles. Prior to his current appointment, Eric Piatti was General Manager at Fairmont Towers, Heliopolis, Cairo and previously held similar positions for Swissôtel in India and China from 2007.

Lubosh Barta has been appointed as General Manager at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui

Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, Thailand announces the appointment of Lubosh Barta as General Manager. Barta is no stranger to the palm-fringed beaches of the beautiful island of Samui, having been Resort Manager of Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui since December 2010. Koh Samui is the third stop on Barta’s “Grand Tour of Thailand,” having started his Thai adventure in 2004 in the dynamic capital as Director of Food & Beverage at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok. His journey next took him north, to the peaceful green rice fields of Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, where he served as Resort Manager from 2007 to 2010.

Rubel Miah has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing (Thailand) at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel

French native and graduate of the University of Evry, France, Mr. Miah began his career as Assistant Marketing Manager at Gore-Tex. Fascinated by hospitality industry, he entered the world of luxury hotels with Accor where he spent almost seven years, beginning with his first assignment at Novotel Hotel in Beijing, China. This was followed by various senior positions including Sofitel Hotels & Resorts in Xian, and in Beijing while the city hosted the 2008 Olympic Games, and finally Saigon. Mr. Miah joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in early 2011 as part of the pre-opening team at the renowned Sheraton Chongqing Hotel, a prestigious property that set the benchmark for luxury and exceptional service within six months of opening.

Amanda Hyndman has been appointed as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok

Amanda Hyndman joined Mandarin Oriental in 2007 as General Manager of The Excelsior, Hong Kong. Here, she focused on enhancing the hotel’s Guest Advocacy and Colleague Engagement scores and oversaw the renovation of various hotel outlets and guest facilities. In 2009, she was appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC, and during her tenure has been instrumental in raising the profile of the property both locally, through significant community involvement, as well as internationally. She was awarded General Manager of the Year at the Hotel Association of Washington DC – ‘Stars of the Industry’ Awards.
