Glo Best Western Hotel Asheville

72-room Glo Hotel, 'hip' Best Western boutique brand, opens in Asheville

A new 72-room boutique hotel has opened on Tunnel Road east of the Asheville Mall, a facility its developer hopes will stand out from more traditional lodging options in the community.

Glo Best Western Hotel is the latest local hotel to open, the first of several in a year area tourism leaders expect more than 500 new rooms to come online. It is owned and developed by H.P. Patel of Krish Hospitality. Patel also owns a Comfort Inn in East Asheville and a separate Best Western neighboring the Glo property.

The four-story hotel is billed by its parent company as providing a "lively and welcoming ambiance." It offers guests a number of amenities including an indoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center and contemporary style guest rooms — as well as strategic outdoor LED lighting meant to set the property apart from others.

Patel said Thursday the project encountered some initial delays in the city permitting process and some weather-related delays during construction, which took roughly 18 months from start to finish.
