The renowned hospitality group is investing more than 450 million dollars in the conversion of the emblematic Tudor style San Rafael Hotel in Punta del Este, Uruguay, into Cipriani Ocean Resort and Club Residences and Casino complex, designed by the famous Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly.

Cipriani's longtime tradition of elegance and luxury makes its landing in Punta del Este with a new and impressive real estate project that includes the faithful reconstruction of the iconic hotel, once the glamorous destination for celebrities and politicians coming to Uruguay, as well as the preferred choice for South Americans and international visitors. The original design will be entirely preserved and complemented with beautiful residences, restaurants, spa, pools, boutiques and casino. Twenty two years after the first private casino licence was granted in Punta, the Government has approved this week the licence to Cipriani. The first phase, scheduled to be completed in November 2021, will include 164 hotel suites ; an additional 800,000 sq feet of residences will be added on a second phase.

The hotel and the club residences will be decorated by the Florentine architect Michele Bönan. All the furniture from bedside tables to door handles are his designs, produced by Italian artisans and respond to the values of functionality, quality and elegance. Bönan was chosen for other previous projects of Cipriani to interpret perfectly the luxury style of the family.
