Celebrate Groundbreaking of the Courtyard by Marriott Gainesville, Georgia
Capstone Property Group, LLC, McKibbon Places and McKibbon Hospitality recently celebrated the official groundbreaking of the Courtyard by Marriott Gainesville, Georgia on Monday, December 6. The 130-room select-service hotel is set to anchor the highly anticipated mixed-use development, The National - a revival and redevelopment of Gainesville's long-vacant First National Bank building, whi ch also broke ground during the event. Both the hotel and The National are anticipated to open in mid-2023.
Capstone Property Group, LLC purchased the iconic First National Bank building from investment group, 111 Green Street, LLC in 2019 with the intent to convert the building into a 50-room hotel. Plans quickly evolved to provide Gainesville with an attractive live-work-play development, including not only a hotel, but also mixed-use and residential offerings.
The Courty ard, which will offer 130 rooms and five suites across seven stories and 77,000 sq. ft., will connect to The National's main building and existing structure by way of a courtyard plaza and lobby. In addition to comfortable, modern accommodations and a state-of-the-art fitness center, leisure and business travelers and Gainesville residents alike will appreciate the hotel's thoughtful spaces designed for entertaining and connecting such as the lobby lounge and bar with outdoor dining space and an elevated terrace with bar service, perfect for hosting outdoor gatherings and activities.
Local architect Steve Hill of H. Lloyd Hill Architects is overseeing the design of The National's Luxury Apartments with McKibbon Places providing development and project management services for the hotel component of the project and McKibbon Hospitality taking on management of the hotel, which is anticipated to employ up to 45 individuals post-opening.
