SH Hotels & Resorts Expands Treehouse Hotels Brand to Australia
SH Hotels & Resorts, the sustainable brand management company founded by Starwood Capital Group Chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht, announces its first Treehouse Hotel in Australia, scheduled to open in Adelaide in 2026. Treehouse Hotels, the free-spirited lifestyle hospitality brand acclaimed for "celebrating the joy of youth, freedom, fun and friends, real and imaginary," is founded on the adventurous ideas that inspire a child to build their "treehouse" and hang. Treehouse Hotels creatively capture the carefree comfort, freedom, warmth and wonder of childhood.

Designed to appeal to the youthful and playful spirit in all of us, Treehouse Adelaide will combine the spirit of innovation and dynamism of Australia's vibrant coastal city with the Treehouse brand's nostalgic and whimsical ethos. Like every Treehouse Hotel, the hotel will showcase locally sourced original arts and crafts, cozy spaces, found objects, nostalgic tunes, handmade details and seasonal and natural innovative fare, with flair. The halcyon spirit of childhood that defines the Treehouse brand consciously connects locals and guests alike to the unique natural and cultural attraction of South Australia.
In addition to 248 casually comfortable guest rooms and suites, food and beverage offerings include an all-day dining restaurant, a terrace bar with ample outdoor seating, a Lobby Lounge and a Backyard grab & go for casual treats and snacks. The property will feature over 500 square meters of indoor and outdoor event space, and more than 230 square meters of fitness and wellness spa and treatment facilities.
The property will be managed by SH Hotels & Resorts, the sustainable brand management company founded by Starwood Capital Group Chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht, which also operates 1 Hotels and Baccarat Hotels. The project is a product of a creative collaboration among public and private partners, including the Adelaide Economic Development Agency and ICD Property, Treehouse Adelaide is a component of the Market Square office, retail, hospitality, and residential project, an ambitious $400 million mixed use commercial development currently under construction in the historic heart of Adelaide. The hotel will seamlessly harmonize with the diverse offerings of the iconic 150-year-old Adelaide Central Market, South Australia's premier food destination for fresh, innovative multicultural cuisine and locally sourced produce. Hotel guests will enjoy convenient access to the compelling retail and cultural offerings of the precinct, while visitors can freely drop in to sample the hotel's restaurant and bar.
