The contracts have been signed, and the transformation of a former office building into the new MEININGER Hotel in Edinburgh is set to begin. The hotel will feature 157 rooms with a total of 549 beds, including double rooms, triple rooms, four-bed rooms, and even six-bed rooms. The property is situated near Haymarket, one of Edinburgh's main thoroughfares, with direct access to tram stops and a mainline railway station. In the surrounding area, many exciting new projects are underway, including the £850 million Edinburgh St. James Quarter, featuring retail spaces, restaurants, and a cinema. This neighborhood is poised to become even more attractive in the coming years.
Scotland as a promising tourism market
Edinburgh, Scotland's majestic capital is considered one of Europe's most beautiful cities, boasting a rich history and breathtaking architecture. Both the Old Town and the New Town, designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, captivate with their unique charm. In Scotland, Edinburgh stands out as the city with the highest tourist numbers, ranking second in the entire United Kingdom, after London. The city entices visitors with a wealth of highlights, including the impressive Edinburgh Castle, the magnificent Holyrood Palace, and the historic Royal Mile. Edinburgh is also famous for hosting the annual Tattoo Festival and various arts and cultural events, such as the Edinburgh Fringe. The city's New Year celebrations, known as 'Hogmanay,' span three days and feature citywide festivities.
MEININGER continues its expansion
Following openings in Venice, Cologne, and Krakow this year, with further planned openings in Barcelona, MEININGER Hotels announces its next expansion into the Scottish market. To ensure sustainable growth, MEININGER focuses on treating each opening with care, rather than pursuing mass openings. The successful hybrid hotel concept will gradually expand into new markets and major cities, with a focus on Europe.
