Accor announces two new hotels in Sanya Yalong Bay, with Swissôtel and Grand Mercure opening in 2024

The popular, family-friendly brands will create a vibrant dual-branded resort complex at the tropical paradise on Haina Island.

Accor today announced a new partnership with Huayu Group to bring two of its popular and family-friendly brands to one of Hainan Island's most coveted vacation spots. Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay and Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay will comprise of a spectacular resort community with a diverse mix of Swissôtel's vitality-infused guest experience and Grand Mercure's ethos of embracing local cultural traditions. Refurbishments on the existing site are now underway, with the official opening of the two hotels on the property expected by the end of 2024.

Yalong Bay is one of China's top tourist destinations - a much-loved coastal experience that is often compared to Hawaii, due to its tropical seaside lifestyle, pristine white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, azure blue water, and gentle mountain vistas. The new Swissôtel & Grand Mercure hotels will reside in the midst of the Yalong Bay National Tourist Resort, within the modern and highly popular Baihua Valley Commercial Center, which offers a vibrant and fast-growing neighborhood of local hotspots, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. The area is just a short 30-minute drive from Sanya Airport, and a 20-minute drive from Sanya Downtown with bus and train stations.

The Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay will include 460 Swissôtel guestrooms and suites styled with intelligent design, quality craftsmanship and mindful approach to sustainability. The Hotel will also feature a 1,300 sqm ballroom, an executive lounge, and flexible meeting and event spaces that will be ideal for business gatherings and family celebrations. Guests will enjoy a relaxed and leisurely experience, with multiple restaurants, bars, wellness facilities and a kids' club.

Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay will provide 124 charming and inviting rooms and suites with generous private space for families and friend groups, or those looking for extra space to combine their work with leisure time. The sprawling complex resort will offer stunning views of Yalong Bay, with a beautiful white sand beach just down the road from the property.

Yalong Bay is a popular destination for business travelers and executive retreats, as the district continues to increase its trade and economic openness, while encouraging ecological and innovative development. This is further supported by Hainan's status as a free trade zone, which is set to become a world-class free-trade hub and centre for offshore financing and duty-free shopping.

Protecting the natural ecosystems and biodiversity of Hainan Island is of utmost importance to Accor. From safeguarding the natural environment around its hotels to supporting the health and integrity of the island's food chain, Accor is committed to the conservation of nature and the resources of Hainan Island. The new Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay and Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay hotels will abide by Accor's sustainable business model in Greater China, which aims to lower carbon emissions, reduce food waste, and shift consumer mindsets. The hotels of Accor Greater China are engaged in ongoing efforts to continuously improve the capabilities and efficiencies of their operations, while deepening their commitment to conservation practices, environmental protection, and creating safe and healthy atmospheres.
