"The Inn at Green Pastures is our way of offering guests a deeper connection to this special place," said Jeff Trigger, chairman of the investor board and president of La Corsha Hospitality Group. "Whether you're here for a wedding, a quiet getaway or drinks at Henry's, we want every stay to feel personal, elevated and rooted in the beauty of Austin."
The Inn at Green Pastures is a modern haven nestled within the natural beauty of the Texas landscape. The guest rooms and suites feature high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and luxurious finishes like rich hardwood floors, striking marble sinks and deep bathtubs, all designed to offer the elevated comforts of home for travelers on the move. Designed by award-winning, Austin-based architecture and interiors firm Clayton Korte, The Inn at Green Pastures is a three-story, new-construction hotel thoughtfully built in an L-shape to preserve the surrounding live oaks. The Inn incorporates valet-only parking with a below-grade parking structure, offering guests a quiet, restorative retreat.
Guests can explore a curated selection of locally crafted goods and thoughtfully chosen merchandise throughout the property. In partnership with Noah Marion, a multidisciplinary design studio in the heart of Austin, The Inn features the studio's signature leather goods—including key chains, pouches and catchall trays—reimagined in an exclusive green hue created specifically for the property. The retail offering extends beyond leather goods to include a carefully curated assortment of books, artwork, decorative objects, apothecary items, games, textiles and accessories such as hats, slippers and sweatshirts, providing guests with distinctive mementos of their stay.
Henry's embraces a day-to-night concept, serving everything from morning coffee and Mattie's famous mini biscuits to late-night cocktails and dinner. The beverage program features breakfast cocktails like the Breakfast Martini (with gin, red berry liqueur, lemon and strawberry jam), frozen afternoon drinks including a Hugo Spritz and signature house cocktails such as Atomic Tanlines (with bonded bourbon, Meletti Amaro and peach) and The Magical Hour (with mezcal, Liquore Strega and crème de cacao). Draft cocktails like the Artemis Cup, Back Porch Tea and Espresso Martini can be enjoyed with liquor or zero-proof.
Food offerings span breakfast favorites, all-day snacks and dinner entrees, available for in-room dining or at the restaurant. Highlights include hot smoked salmon on an everything bagel, Henry's Long Dog with green tomato relish and sport peppers, the Grassfield Farms beef burger with double smash patties and beef tallow steak fries, and grilled redfish with German potato salad. Small plates like meat and cheese boards, grilled artichokes and raw oysters can be enjoyed poolside on the private patio.
Green Pastures' storied history spans over 130 years on this seven-acre wooded site in South Austin. Originally part of 50 rural acres, the 120-year-old Victorian farmhouse was completed in 1895 by local minister and physician Dr. Eugene W. Herndon, who often entertained guests at his farmhouse. The property became a symbol of progressive values when lawyer Henry Faulk purchased the house and 23 acres in 1916 for his large family, who ran it as a working farm with gardens, livestock and crops.
In 1946, Faulk's daughter, Mary Faulk Koock, and her husband, Chester Koock, transformed the family home into Austin's first racially integrated restaurant — at the height of the Jim Crow era — embodying the progressive values that continue to define Green Pastures today. The restaurant became legendary for Mary's exceptional hospitality and food, including her famous yeast rolls. Her reputation grew so much that publishers commissioned her to write "The Texas Cookbook" in 1965, with the assistance of renowned chef James Beard. The Koocks retired in 1970, passing the restaurant on to their son, Ken, and partner, Lee Buslett. Green Pastures was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, and the upstairs bar notably received the second mixed-beverage license in Travis County, after the Driskill Hotel. In 2003, Bob Buslett, Lee's son, became the owner, continuing the restaurant's decades-long traditions.
The property was purchased by its local investment group in 2015, and the original Green Pastures restaurant became Mattie's — named after Martha "Mattie" Faulk, wife of Henry and mother of Mary — in 2017. The same award-winning team at Clayton Korte that designed The Inn also led Mattie's complete renovation, earning a 2017 Preservation Austin Merit Award for Rehabilitation.
Of the 63 rooms at The Inn at Green Pastures, nine are suites. The suites are named Cardinal, Finch, Live Oak, Magnolia, Peacock, Persimmon, Sparrow, Texana and Wren — all honoring the property's historic ties and its surrounding nature. The hotel also offers several adjoining rooms, where guests can book a king bedroom suite and book the adjacent room to extend the size of their dwelling.
The property is renowned for its ability to accommodate a diverse range of wedding and event styles. The venue's historic charm, lush gardens and elegant interior spaces provide a versatile backdrop for both intimate and grand celebrations. Now, with The Inn, wedding parties can stay on the property while booking either Marion Hall inside Mattie's or the Green Pastures Ballroom as their event space. Wedding and event bookings can also reserve the Caretaker's Cottage, the perfect venue for getting ready for the big day. Green Pastures is now booking for fall 2025 events. Plans are already underway for a luxury spa, slated to open in 2028, which will offer guests an even deeper wellness experience amongst the property's tranquil, oak-shaded grounds. This addition will further cement Green Pastures' position as a complete sanctuary where Austin's storied past meets its vibrant future.
