Japan: Hoshino Resorts Opens RISONARE Shimonoseki
RISONARE Shimonoseki, Hoshino Resorts' eighth RISONARE property, has officially opened its doors marking the brand's first expansion into Japan's Yamagata prefecture. The latest opening holds true to the brand's signature—providing a unique experience focused on the local charms of each destination—with dynamic views, thoughtful design and abundant activities.
Continuing a family legacy that began with a ryokan in Karuizawa in 1914, Mr. Hoshino is shaping the next chapter of the brand's evolution. With over 70 design-driven properties worldwide, including family-friendly food-focused resorts RISONARE, the brand's growth-up 74% since 2019-reflects both its creative vision and loyal following.
Key highlights of RISONARE Shimonoseki's opening include:
- Spatial Design: Based on the concept of a "Kaikyo (strait) Designer's Hotel," the architecture incorporates elements unique to the region, such as the Kanmon Strait scenery and "fugu" (pufferfish). The Kanmon Bridge, Moji Port on the opposite shore, and its view of passing ships, are implemented across the guest experience.
- Innovative Accommodations: Featuring 187 guest rooms, walls and interiors are primarily done in emerald green, inspired by the Kanmon Strait which all rooms boast a view of. The most stand-out accommodation, the Strait Cabana Suite, includes a sandy beach area within the living space, creating the sensation of a private beach complete with themed in-room amenities.
- Authentic Culinary Experiences: Core dining concept OTTO SETTE, known at additional RISONARE properties for introducing guests to unique local ingredients, offers an Italian dinner experience allowing guests to savor the diverse textures and inherent flavors of fugu (pufferfish). Buffet-style outlet PUKU PUKU offers a wide variety of unique regional dishes such as fugu karaage (fried fugu) and seaweed-wrapped roast beef.
- Array of Amenities: Guests can enjoy the infinity pool, which seamlessly merges the water's surface with the sea and sky, or choose the all-season indoor pool with water slide and shallow pool for children. Relaxation continues at the on-site spa and Kaikyo Sauna, characterized by its large windows, along with FUGU Beach and the NAMI NAMI terrace-each with lounging spaces.
