Where Heritage Meets Social Living: lyf Chinatown Singapore Debuts in the Heart of Chinatown
The Ascott Limited (Ascott) today announces that lyf Chinatown Singapore will open its doors on 3 July 2026, with bookings available from 15 May 2026 onwards. The 90-unit property marks the fifth lyf-branded property in Singapore. The development has been thoughtfully designed to honour the area’s rich cultural and heritage significance, which carries a long history tied to the Chulia community.
A Living Tapestry of Heritage and Modern Design
Drawing inspiration from the convergence of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian influences that defines the surrounding precinct, lyf Chinatown Singapore translates cultural heritage into everyday lived experience. Design references are woven throughout — from an entrance featuring a criss-cross motif drawn from the heritage architectural details to a check-in counter reimagined from traditional Chinese medicine cabinets. Colours, materials and wayfinding signage presented in four languages echo Chinatown’s layered streetscape, creating a spatial narrative where heritage unfolds through design, movement and interaction.
Social Living, Reimagined Through Shared Spaces
lyf Chinatown Singapore’s signature social spaces are designed for guests to live, work and socialise, while remaining grounded in the character of the neighbourhood. BOND, the social kitchen, draws on Chinatown’s five-foot way culture and communal rhythms. COLLAB, a flexible co-working environment, references the shophouse arcades and mercantile history of the precinct. DIP, a rooftop pool, and BURN, a fully equipped gym, draw on the daily rituals of rest and renewal that sustained generations of merchants and communities in the district. WASH & HANG, the communal laundry space, reinterprets the neighbourhood’s architectural character in a playful, contemporary way.
Art, Storytelling and Cultural Journeys
The property offers nine room types – Nano Queen Plus, Nano Queen, Nano Single, Nano Twin, One of A Kind, Side-by-Side, One of A Kind Plus, Level Up and Level Up Plus – accommodating solo travellers through to groups of six. Each space features a distinct artwork reflecting a journey through Chinatown, complemented by playful reinterpretations of familiar cultural motifs such as fortune cats and prosperity symbols.
