LiveStay Group launches construction of Punthill Bundoora in Melbourne’s growing northern corridor
LiveStay and The Noordenne Family Group have partnered to bring a new 92-key Punthill apartment hotel to Bundoora, with construction now underway on the project at 5–19 Janefield Drive, ahead of an anticipated opening in 2028.
The announcement was made today by LiveStay CEO, Zed Sanjana, at the future site of Punthill Bundoora, where he was joined by City of Whittlesea Mayor, Councillor Lawrie Cox, and Deputy Mayor Blair Colwell, for a ground-breaking ceremony to commemorate the start of construction.
Reinforcing LiveStay’s continued focus on high-growth education, health and commercial precincts, the new development is the eleventh project commenced by the Group in the past 12 months and the third in Melbourne’s rapidly expanding northern corridor, joining Punthill Ivanhoe and the recently opened Punthill Epping within the landmark $2 billion New Epping precinct.
The new apartment hotel will be positioned in close proximity to La Trobe University, RMIT University’s Bundoora campus, major health and research institutions, retail centres and key transport connections.
For LiveStay, the decision to open in Bundoora reflects growing demand for high-quality apartment-style accommodation in an area that has historically experienced limited extended stay supply.
Punthill Bundoora will comprise 92 fully self-contained apartments across a diverse mix of Studio, one-, two-, three-bedroom and interconnecting configurations, designed to cater to both short and extended stay travellers.
Each apartment will be thoughtfully designed to provide comfort, space and functionality, making the property well suited to corporate travellers, project teams, visiting academics, healthcare workers, families and leisure guests seeking flexible apartment-style accommodation in Melbourne’s north.
On-site facilities will include conference and meeting spaces, a gymnasium, guest pantry, reception and lobby area, secure car parking and in-room laundry facilities, ensuring guests enjoy the convenience of apartment living alongside hotel-style services and amenities.
The property will primarily target the corporate long-stay market, supported by its location within a growing education, health and commercial precinct. However, LiveStay also expects strong appeal from leisure travellers, sporting groups and families visiting the area.
Punthill Bundoora will benefit from proximity to major retail and lifestyle destinations including Uni Hill Town Centre, DFO Uni Hill, Polaris Town Centre and Bundoora Square, alongside nearby recreational attractions such as Bundoora Park and the Plenty Road Gorge Parklands.
Its location within the broader La Trobe Health, Education and Innovation Precinct also places it close to other major hospitals and healthcare facilities including Austin Hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women, Warringal Private Hospital, Northpark Private Hospital and the Bundoora Extended Care Centre.
Today’s announcement continues a strong period of growth for LiveStay, following recent expansion across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the ACT. A further 5 sites are set to begin construction in 2026 and 2027 including a pipeline of new developments and openings in key metropolitan and regional markets.
More announcements regarding additional Punthill apartment hotel projects are expected from LiveStay in the coming months.
