Travelodge Opens New Hotel in Wakefield Following CitiLodge Acquisition
Travelodge, the UK’s first budget hotel brand which operates over 630 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain, has officially opened its new, 73-room hotel in Wakefield.
The hotel has been developed following the conversion of the former CitiLodge site in the city centre and has been fully refurbished to feature the brand’s latest design.
It features a stylish, multi-functional reception area, next-generation rooms with the Dreamer king-size bed, smart work-friendly layouts, high-speed Wi-Fi, and sustainable features including low-energy LED lighting and water-saving technologies.
A key highlight is that the hotel will be the first in the Travelodge estate to trial new self-service food and beverage options, including a hot pizza vending machine, hot bakery machine and barista-style coffee machine, alongside the brand’s standard vending and breakfast to go box offering.
Located in the heart of Wakefield city centre, the hotel is just a three-minute walk from Trinity Walk Shopping Centre and a 14-minute walk from Wakefield train station. And with plentiful parking locally and onsite, there’s strong access for guests visiting the area for work or leisure.
The opening is expected to bring 16 new jobs to the local area.
Jeff Hocking of Whitestone Retail and Leisure acted as Travelodge’s retained Development Manager for this acquisition.
