Development Pipeline Scheduled for March 2028

San Bernardo, Vignette Collection

IHG Hotels & Resorts accelerates Luxury & Lifestyle growth in Spain with Vignette Collection signing in Madrid

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has expanded its Luxury & Lifestyle presence in Spain with the addition of San Bernardo, Vignette Collection in Madrid. The hotel will bring IHG’s total open and pipeline Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in the country to 21 properties, marking a significant milestone in its continued growth in the market.

Expected to open in March 2028, the 67-room San Bernardo, Vignette Collection will add a distinctive new stay to the heart of the Spanish capital, combining the building’s individual character with the strength of IHG’s global enterprise. It builds on the brand’s growing momentum in Spain, following recent additions including Finca Banyols, Vignette Collection in Mallorca; Casa del Compositor, Vignette Collection in Jerez; and Hacienda de la Vega, Vignette Collection in Carmona.

Spain is one of IHG’s priority growth markets in Europe, underpinned by its position as one of the world’s most visited destinations and strong long-term investor confidence in the hotel sector. Today, IHG’s portfolio in Spain spans ten brands across the Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials and Suites segments, with continued expansion in high-demand destinations including Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca, Málaga and Marbella.

Located on Calle de San Bernardo in central Madrid, the hotel will transform a partially protected heritage office building into a luxury hospitality destination. The redevelopment will preserve key architectural features while introducing contemporary design and amenities, including an internal courtyard, an all-day dining venue, a lounge and bar, and fitness facilities. The signing further strengthens IHG’s presence in one of Spain’s most important gateway markets.

The property is owned by San Bernardo 19 S.L. and will be operated by Hotel Collection International, one of IHG’s largest franchisees in the country. Spanish real estate advisory and investment management firm, Catella, has consulted on the deal, bringing deep local market experience.

Vignette Collection, IHG’s luxury conversion brand, brings together a family of one-of-a-kind properties in sought-after urban and resort locations. Each hotel retains its individual identity and story, while the collection shares a vision of offering a more authentic and considered way to travel. Through signature hallmarks such as ‘Memorable Rituals’ and ‘A Means for Good’, the brand creates purposeful guest experiences that reflect the character and culture of each destination and connect guests with the local cultural landscape.

Since launching in 2021, Vignette Collection has grown rapidly by offering owners of one-of-a-kind hotels the freedom to retain their property’s identity, character and name while accessing IHG’s global systems, distribution and IHG One Rewards loyalty platform. The brand has already passed the halfway point towards its original ambition of 100 hotels within ten years of launch.

Across Europe, Vignette Collection continues to build momentum in key city and resort destinations. The brand made its European debut with Casa da Companhia in Porto and has since expanded into markets including the UK, Hungary, Italy, France, Türkiye and Spain. Recent additions to its regional portfolio include Canary Riverside Plaza in London and Esperança Hotel in Braga, reflecting strong owner demand for a luxury conversion brand that preserves each property’s individuality while providing access to IHG’s global scale and enterprise platform.
