The Webster Hotel Covent Garden, London
The Webster Opens Its First Hotel in London’s Covent Garden
The Webster Covent Garden is now welcoming guests, marking the debut of The Webster, a new design-forward lifestyle hotel brand, in London.
Set overlooking Lincoln’s Inn Fields, the 167-bedroom hotel brings together thoughtful design, literary inspiration, distinctive food and drink, and a programme of culture and connection, creating a place designed not simply for staying, but for gathering, discovering and spending time. Rooted in the idea of reconnecting with the pleasures of presence and the world around us, The Webster offers a considered alternative to the pace of digital life, shaped by curiosity, sociability and a strong sense of place. Across the hotel, guests will find distinctively designed guestrooms, intimate lounges, literary nooks and three food and beverage destinations: Italian-inspired restaurant Carmelina’s, all-day café-bar and outdoor terrace Carmelina’s Al Banco, and late-night cocktail bar Carla’s. Ideally located in the heart of London, just steps from Lincoln’s Inn Fields and within easy reach of the theatres, markets, museums, restaurants and nightlife of Covent Garden, Bloomsbury and Soho, The Webster Covent Garden invites guests to stay, linger and experience the city from a new perspective.
A Hotel Inspired By Storytelling
Designed by award-winning London-based architecture and interior design studio Red Deer, The Webster Covent Garden draws on the idea of magical realism, the literary genre famously associated with Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez - taking a grounded, real setting and introducing subtle moments of wonder. This spirit runs throughout the hotel, where warmth, texture and storytelling transform overlooked corners into spaces that invite curiosity and intrigue. Rather than revealing itself all at once, the design unfolds gradually, with expressive details emerging as guests move through the hotel, bringing together contemporary sophistication and a sense of nostalgia. Bespoke furniture sits alongside expressive materials and artwork by British artists including Henry Ward and Emily Kirby, while Italian-terrazzo-inspired flooring adds a unique graphic rhythm throughout the space. Intimate library nooks offer quieter moments to read, work or linger, creating a sense of discovery within the hotel’s more social settings. At the heart of it all, the outdoor lounge and terrace take on a different character as the day unfolds, beginning with morning coffee and pastries, moving into leisurely lunches and aperitivo, and culminating in evening cocktails. Together, these details create an atmosphere where everyday rituals are reimagined through colour, art, and texture.
An Italian-Inspired Culinary Heart
At the centre of the hotel’s social offering is a trio of food and beverage destinations founded by hospitality trio Daniele Pampagnin, Jake Mason and Carmela Pia and inspired by three ways of coming to Italy: inherited, lived and fallen for. Drawing on the richness and informality of Italian food culture, each space is relaxed and unhurried, with a distinct identity designed to encourage guests to return throughout the day.
On the lower ground floor there is Carmelina’s, the hotel’s signature Italian-inspired restaurant, creating an energetic yet welcoming setting centred around food, wine and conversation. Carmelina’s takes its cues from the way Italians like to live: generously, socially and rarely in a hurry. The 100-cover restaurant features an open kitchen, counter dining and a dedicated wine bar. A nostalgic black-and-white tiled floor, warm natural materials and classic Italian-inspired interiors create an atmosphere that feels familiar yet fresh. Led by co-founder and chef Daniele Pampagnin, Carmelina’s celebrates fresh handmade pasta, seasonal produce and seafood, alongside classic cocktails and a considered wine list with Head Chef Simone Serafini overseeing the kitchen.
Upstairs, Carmelina’s Al Banco is a relaxed all-day café-bar inspired by the neighbourhood bars of Milan. Extending onto a contemporary, plant-filled outdoor terrace with striped awnings and woven furnishings, the space shifts effortlessly from morning coffee and breakfast to lunch, aperitivo and evening drinks. Designed as a place to settle in rather than simply pass through, Al Banco brings the spirit of the Italian bar to Lincoln’s Inn Fields, offering guests and locals a casual social space throughout the day.
Completing the offering is Carla’s, a late-night cocktail bar tucked away on the hotel’s lower level and sitting adjacent to Carmelina’s. Led by Bar Manager Peppe Corallo, the intimate after-dark destination takes inspiration from the hidden Italo-disco bars of Italy. The space combines craft cocktails and a curated drinks offering with live entertainment and events. Accommodating up to 60 guests, Carla’s is also available for private events, celebrations and evening gatherings.
The names of the spaces playfully nod to the Italian tradition of passing names down through generations, with Carmelina’s and Carla’s drawing inspiration from two generations of the same family.
Rooms Designed For A Quieter Pace
The hotel features 167 guestrooms, including three suites across 10 floors, each conceived as a serene, character-rich sanctuary with a timeless sensibility. Warm neutral palettes of terracotta, oxblood and soft off-whites, inspired by historic interiors, literary salons and old publishing houses, are paired with textured plank flooring, hand-knotted wool rugs, and bespoke brass and alabaster lighting. Carefully selected objects bring a sense of nostalgia to the rooms, from Robert Radios and hand-selected books, inviting guests to disconnect from the digital world and rediscover the pleasure of analog rituals. A mid-century-style elbow chair adds to the timeless character, while bespoke artwork and custom-patterned drapery bring moments of wonder. Throughout, the design balances comfort and sophistication with playful details and unexpected charm. Bathrooms continue the calm, considered aesthetic, with terrazzo flooring and organic ceramic wall tiles in neutral tones, complemented by brushed-nickel Kohler fixtures and softly illuminated mirrors. Amenities include Dyson hair dryers on request, which are also available for guests to purchase should they wish, Malin+Goetz bath products, and The Webster’s Complimentary Water Program reflect a hospitality philosophy rooted in care, generosity, and quiet refinement. On each floor, there is also a curated collection of books, allowing guests to swap books throughout their stay and discover something new to read.
A Place To Read, Gather and Connect
Beyond its rooms and restaurants, The Webster Covent Garden is designed as a place for cultural exchange. Reflecting its literary inspiration and the hotel's location, cultural programming will bring together writers, artists, musicians and local creatives through literary salons, artist residencies, intimate performances and neighbourhood collaborations. Signature programming will include the Webster Book Club, an informal gathering for readers and travellers, alongside The Daily Edit - a series of events designed to foster conversation and authentic connections with the local community including weekend brunch, guided runs, live music and cocktail pairing, coffee tasting and more. The hotel’s setting on Lincoln’s Inn Fields adds another layer to its literary identity. Charles Dickens studied law nearby and drew inspiration from the surrounding streets for some of literature’s most enduring characters, connecting The Webster to a neighbourhood with a long history of intellectual and creative exchange.
Meetings and events are shaped by setting as much as scale. Two adaptable spaces can accommodate up to 120 guests across the hotel, offering flexible settings for focused meetings, presentations, private dining, launches and receptions, all with the ease and character of a lifestyle hotel rather than a conventional events venue. Guests can also make use of the hotel’s public spaces for private hire, including Carla’s, sections of Carmelina’s and portions of the terrace overlooking Lincoln’s Inn Fields. With a natural flow between the event rooms, lobby, restaurant, bars and terrace, the hotel offers a seamless and versatile setting for gatherings in the heart of Central London.
The hotel’s on-site fitness suite offers a contemporary space designed to help guests maintain their routines while travelling. Open 24 hours, it provides everything guests need for an early-morning workout, midday session or evening reset.
The Webster Covent Garden is now open, led by General Manager Massimo Varriale. Rooms start from £350 per night, excluding breakfast, with each booking including The Editor’s Tab - a £60 F&B credit, redeemable throughout the stay across the hotel’s food and beverage destinations. Seamless digital check-in allows guests to use their phone as a room key via Apple Wallet, while complimentary early check-in and late check-out offer added flexibility throughout their stay.
Following its London debut, The Webster will continue its expansion with the opening of The Webster Times Square in New York in 2027, bringing the brand’s defining approach to design, hospitality, culture and shared experiences to a new city.
