Signia Hilton Savannah Reaches Major Construction Milestone with Topping Out Ceremony
Signia Hilton Savannah reached a major construction milestone today as the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority (SGCCA), Savannah Convention Center, Hilton, Brasfield & Gorrie, Songy Highroads, elected officials and community partners celebrated the topping out of the 444-room hotel. The property will serve as the headquarters hotel for the Savannah Convention Center, further enhancing the destination's ability to host meetings, events and conventions.
Scheduled to open in 2028, the hotel will connect directly to the Savannah Convention Center, expanding the city’s capacity to accommodate larger conventions, citywide meetings and events. Together, the convention center expansion and headquarters hotel position Savannah as a leading destination for more meetings and conventions while generating additional visitor spending and economic opportunity throughout the region.
Today's topping out ceremony marked the placement of the building's highest structural beam, recognizing the progress made by the hundreds of workers helping bring the project to life. To date, more than 1,200 individual workers have contributed to the project, with more than 300 on-site daily. Construction crews have poured more than 27,000 cubic yards of concrete, installed 2,700 tons of reinforcing steel and completed 1,135 auger piles totaling more than 81,000 linear feet of deep foundations to support the nearly 200-foot-tall tower.
Owned by the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority and developed in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Signia Hilton Savannah will be managed by Hilton, with Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest Hospitality serving as co-developers. The property will feature more than 34,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 13,000-square-foot ballroom, Club Signia, an outdoor pool and five distinct food and beverage venues. The hotel's culinary program is being developed in partnership with Savannah-based hospitality company Grey Spaces, led by acclaimed Chef Mashama Bailey and restaurateur Johno Morisano, bringing a locally inspired dining experience to the riverfront destination. The property will complement the expanded Savannah Convention Center by creating an integrated campus experience that supports larger events and enhances Savannah's appeal as a premier meetings and tourism destination.
During the ceremony, project partners, elected officials and community leaders participated in a ceremonial beam signing.
