Newmark who is no stranger to the Central Florida community, has been in the hospitality industry for the past 34 years.
Most recently, he worked for Obaluxe Hotel Advisors as a Managing Director where he oversaw two resorts and marinas in the Florida Keys focused on repositioning and redeveloping these assets for owner Starwood Capital Group. He also served as a hospitality consultant on several other Starwood Capital Group projects in Florida and New York.
Prior to joining Obaluxe, he was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for The Kessler Collection’s AAA Four-Diamond Grand Bohemian Hotel.
Newmark was the General Manager when the luxury hotel first opened in 2001 with a Westin flag. Throughout his tenure with Kessler, Newmark has been awarded top honors within the organization including Grand Performer of the Year, General Manager of the Year, Five Star Award of Excellence and Management Award of Excellence.
In 2005, he was named Senior Vice president of Operations at The Kessler Collection. responsible for overseeing operations of all Kessler Collection hotels (11) in Florida, Savannah, GA, Beaver Creek and DeBeque, Colorado and Taos, New Mexico as well as future developments. He was also a member of the owner’s corporate executive team.
When the Grand Bohemian Hotel was affiliated with the Westin chain, Newmark was instrumental in leading the property to receiving Westin's "Best in Brand" award in overall guest satisfaction for four years in a row. In addition through his leadership the luxury property was designated one of the Best Hotels in the World through Conde Nast Traveler and one of the World’s Best Places to Stay through Travel & Leisure Magazine.
Mr. Newmark has served on various local boards including the Downtown Development Board for the City of Orlando and the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Central Florida (UCF), Rosen College of Hospitality Management with Honors and his A.S. Degree from the Hotel School at the University of Massachusetts with Honors. In addition, he has been accepted into graduate program at UCF with aspiration of completing a Master’s degree
