Prior to his promotion, Andrea was Regional Director of Sales & Marketing based in Orient-Express’s office in Milan, where he was responsible for sales and marketing for the company’s Italian hotels, including Hotel Cipriani in Venice and Hotel Splendido in Portofino. During this time he was involved in the successful opening of the Hotel Caruso in Ravello, and the launch of the company’s latest acquisitions, Grand Hotel Timeo and Villa Sant’Andrea in Sicily, in May 2010.
Andrea Filippi began his career in luxury hospitality as a management trainee at the Hotel Splendido in Portofino, before moving into corporate roles at Ciga Hotels, Hyatt and Four Seasons, returning to Orient-Express in 2004, when he established the company’s sales & marketing office in Milan.
Andrea will remain in Italy for a three month transitional period whilst his successor is found, after which he will be based between London, Milan, Orient-Express properties and their main feeder markets.
