Marcus Verberne has been appointed as Executive Chef at Rocco Forte's Brown's Hotel

Marcus Verberne has worked alongside Mark Hix for the last 10 years, previously at Le Caprice, J Sheekey and The Ivy, before joining Rocco Forte's Brown's Hotel in February 2008 as Head Chef. Marcus, originally from New Zealand, began his career in Wellington before moving to Melbourne, Australia to work alongside Bill Marchetti at Marchetti's Latin and then Cecconi's. In 2001 he relocated to London. Marcus lives in Colchester and is passionate about supporting British suppliers and he and Mark have gone to great lengths to source some of the finest seasonal ingredients from all over the British Isles. Marcus enjoys foraging for wild food, with many of these ingredients appearing on his menus. Stuart Johnson, General Manager, says of this appointment 'I am pleased Marcus is to take on the post of Executive Chef. During the two and a half years with Brown's Hotel, he has been instrumental in re-positioning HIX at The Albemarle and The English Tea Room as award-winning restaurants and is hugely respected by the entire team ' Marcus will oversee all of Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel’s food and beverage outlets, including HIX at The Albemarle, The English Tea Room, The Donovan Bar, along with six private dining rooms and in-room dining for 117 rooms and suites.
