Juan José Calvo has been appointed as Group Commercial Director at Fiesta Hotel Group

Spanish owned hotel chain Fiesta Hotel Group, has appointed Juan José Calvo as Group Commercial Director. Calvo assumes the role and responsibilities previously fulfilled by Óscar Palacios. Throughout his long career, Calvo has undertaken various roles in some of Spain’s most significant hotel chains. His career in tourism began in 1999 as Resident Manager of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts in the Balearic Islands and in North Africa. In 2004 he took up the position of Resident Manager in the Hotel Bahía Príncipe in Punta Cana, where he stayed until 2005 before moving to Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts as European Sales Director and then Senior Sales Director at Meliá Hotels International. Juan José Calvo studied Economic Sciences and Tourism at Ravensburg University, Bavaria, Germany before undertaking an MBA in Marketing and Sales at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He brings with him a varied skill set with further qualifications in: Occupational Health and Safety, Public Relations, Leadership and Sales Techniques, among others. He speaks Spanish, Catalan, English, German and French. Juan Jose’s role at FHG will be to add value to the organisation from day one, to develop the interpretation of qualitative and quantitative commercial information, and to consolidate and champion the strategic plan within the senior management team.
