Ragosta Hotels Collection, Italy’s youngest boutique luxury hotel group, has appointed Daniel N. Barr to the position of general manager of its new luxury boutique hotel project, Palazzo Montemartini, opening summer 2012. The announcement was made by the group’s Managing Director, Gianluca Giglio. Mr. Barr, a 30-year veteran of the hospitality industry and one of the industry’s most admired hoteliers, will oversee the opening of the €70 million project located in the heart of the eternal city near the legendary Terme Romane di Diocleziano ( Roman Diocletian Baths ). The Palazzo Montemartini is a converted late 19th century palace featuring original architectural elements and features such as part of the Roman Servian Walls present in the hotel’s main courtyard. It is one of the most anticipated hotel openings in Rome in recent years. Mr. Barr also held senior management operations, sales and marketing positions at first-class hotels and resorts in Europe such as: Hotel Excelsior, Le Grand Hotel, Hotel Eden,Visconti Palace Hotel, Hotel Capo d’Africa in Rome, Berkshire Place in New York, and Omni Hotels, Ciga Hotels, Sheraton Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, L’Ermitage Hotel Group in the U.S. and Europe. Born in Linz, Austria, is a U.S. and Italian citizen. Mr. Barr received his Diploma in Architecture from the University of Rome. He is fluent in Italian, English, and Spanish.

Based on the Amalfi Coast, Italy, Ragosta Hotels Collection is comprised of the luxury 77-rooms and suites Hotel Raito (member of Summit Hotels & Resorts) in Vietri sul Mare (Amalfi Coast), the 22- rooms and suites Relais Paradiso on the Amalfi Coast and the new 61-room luxury resort, La Plage Resort (member of Preferred Boutique) in Taormina-Sicily. A fourth hotel is planned for Rome, Italy and will open in Summer 2012.
