Reed Travel Exhibitions has recently announced the appointment of Michael J. Lyons as the new Exhibition Director for AIBTM (www.aibtm.com), the Americas Meetings & Events Exhibition. Lyons, a well-known and respected figure in the meetings and events community for more than 30 years, will lead AIBTM's efforts to enhance its position as the premier global exhibition for the U.S. meetings, events, incentive and business travel industry. Lyons brings a wealth of experience to his new position. His background includes senior level positions with some of the hospitality industry's best-known names, including Global Events Partners, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and Rosenbluth Travel (now American Express). He has served on the boards of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) and ADME (Association of Destination Management Executives); is actively involved in numerous hospitality industry organizations such as MPI and PCMA; and has been honored by the Philadelphia Chapter of MPI as its Supplier of the Year, among other awards he has earned. He is a former member of the Advisory Board of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Temple University in their Event Management Executive Leadership Program.
