Gregor Wateler has been appointed general manager of Kerry Hotel Pudong,
Shanghai. He previously held the same position of the Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo.
A native of Germany, Wateler began his first hotel position in a five-star hotel in Berlin,
German. His experience in the hospitality industry spans 24 years, more than 15
years of which have been spent in the senior management positions at nine of
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ properties in Asia, starting from Shangri-La Hotel,
Singapore in 1998. While steadily rising through the ranks, Wateler’s career brought
him from Berlin to France, Philippines, Egypt, Singapore and China, now for the first
time, in Shanghai.
In his leisure time, the GM indulges in various sports activities, including surfing,
mountain climbing and long distance running, which will bring new innovations to Kerry
Sports, the Shanghai’s largest sports club.
