Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel has announced the appointment of Mr Yves Thoma as Resident Manager. He was previously General Manager of the Happy Valley Clubhouse under the Hong Kong Jockey Club for six years. A German national who graduated from The Hotel School of Lausanne (Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne) in Switzerland and holder of an Ivey Executive MBA from Western Ontario University (Canada), Mr Thoma is fluent in several languages including German, French, English and Spanish. In 1997, he relocated to Hong Kong and started his career at The Regent and then moved to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, where he held executive positions at both the clubhouses and racecourses. “With Mr Thoma’s wealth in international exposure, it is believed that Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel will be navigated to a new zenith.” said Mr Mark Heywood, Area General Manager of Marco Polo hotels, Hong Kong. As Resident Manager for Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, Mr Thoma will be assisting the general manager in day-to-day operations of the Hotel, focusing on maximizing profitability and maintaining superior product and service standards across all departments.
