A Swiss national, Reto has over 20 years of hospitality experience in Europe and Asia and was involved in the growth of the hotel brand in China, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. In the Philippines, he was area general manager from 2009 to 2013 and was responsible for two city hotels, two resorts, one property under the Traders Hotel brand, as well as the pre-opening of Shangri-La At The Fort, Manila. In 2005, he led the creation of the Traders Hotel brand and the pre-opening of Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. During his five years in Malaysia, he received the Tourism Minister’s Special Award for outstanding contribution to Sabah’s tourism. Prior to that, Reto served as the hotel manager for Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort in 2001 before he was promoted to general manager of Shangri La’s Rasa Ria Resort, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia.

Reto K. Klauser is an alumnus of Hotelfachschule Thun – Class of 1991.
